Last day of March

We can March right into Spring...but the wind is still raw and you need a parka, mittens and a hat....note to self your crocs with socks just don't cut it yet.

We completed #21 and #22 of our appointments in March.  What a relief to put that behind us!  One Doctor says come back in a year and the other said 6 months!  Alrighty then.

Far Guy can see without glasses.  His vision is pretty near 20 20. We have eight drops left to do...out of 318 that is an accomplishment itself.  The Doctor reports his eyes are healing well after the cataract surgery.

I am getting better at scheduling appointments...we have some scheduled in June and some in September all on the same day or two. Unlike last year when we had appointments every week and had to drive up North often....or appointments every day that had us staying with Andy and Jen a fair amount of time.

Minnesota weather: High 42F or 6C  Low was 29F or -2C. There was some sun but mostly wind.  I am thinking that March is going out like a Lion as we have snow in the forecast.

Whats cooking?  I made Chili and Grilled Cheese:)

March

It looks like March will come in like a lamb...above zero temperatures...yeah!!

The streets are in good driving condition.

Far Guy spoke with his sister and her family again yesterday.  She ate supper in the dining room with her family...her first night doing that since she came home from the hospital.  Her Pastor visited with her and she had communion.  She had a list of people she wanted to call, I asked her about that and she said yes she made all her phone calls.

I was busy all day yesterday...cleaned a couple of bathrooms and changed sheets, puppy sat Sadie while crocheting and cooked supper...hamburgers, corn and French fries in the air fryer...a baked potato for me.

Sunshine can be a shovel

The snow is melting off the patio...I didn't shovel the patio as this last snow was really heavy.  Sunshine was my shovel!  We may have more snow coming soon...perhaps it will go south of us and get the banana belt of Minnesota.

I worked in the kitchen most of the day...12 of 17 drawers have been cleaned and a bunch of cupboards.  Not sure that I will get the entire kitchen done by Tuesday...we will see.  I am not holding my breath!

By 3PM I was shot and went to my office on the couch and watched the second season of Virgin River...I liked the first season very much and have been waiting to watch the second season...a reward after cleaning works for me!  I give the Series a 9 out of 10 stars.

Far Guy went for a walk several times and worked on his carvings.

March

March came in a bit lionish here, it has been bitterly cold.  We got a skiff of snow a couple of nights.
Far Guy endured the surgery to remove his occluded port and it was replaced with another port on the other side of his chest.  He will have matching scars.  This port is set a little deeper and it is much more painful for him.  We had really good nursing care, we had a nurse that was an old customer of ours.  Far Guy is getting to know all the nurses in surgery and recovery since he has been there three times in the last four weeks…and that may have something to do with why he is not bouncing back very fast. His chest is swollen and painful to the touch…I am thinking I will let him do his own needle stick this week.

We are having quiet days at home.  Walking Chance a few times a day and napping.

I have a variety of projects sitting on my desk and I work on them in between cooking and naps. Photo cards, scanning old photos and some knitting.

I really should make a “to do” list…but just dealing with the here and now seems enough for now.

Marching in like sheep

March is finally here, one month closer to unfrozen. Yesterday we stopped by the fishing derby for lunch.
There was so much flooding on the ice that we didn't stay long, the wind was brisk out on the lake..even though it looked warm it was cold. Lunch was a hot dog and a homemade brownie. Far Guy had to wade to the concession stand..he had waterproof boots on.. I did not.
They should have had a "Wadetress" and they should have had two windows open..instead they fumbled around with just one window open...if the line had been longer we wouldn't have waited. They don't seem to "get" it ..they have two hours to sell as much as they can..and they would sell more if people didn't have to wade in water and wait in line. It is the area Sportsman's Club that puts on this fishing derby every year the last Sunday In February. It is their main source of income. No, I am not joining this club..I don't like meetings. If you ask me there are way to many meetings in this world..we need less talk and more action.
Well I guess March is coming in like a sheep..for your viewing enjoyment I give you a glimpse of my sisters sheep..and a photo taken last June, when the grass was all green!
Here is a crack in the ice on the lake..for those of you who live in warmer parts of the USA and can't believe that we actually walk, drive and fish out on a frozen lake. Today it is way above zero ( 20 degrees!! headed for the mid 30's..yes this is cause for great excitement!) ..a rather pleasant March like day in Minnesota..not baaaad at all:)
