Jen and Andy were driving around.
LOOK what they found. Andy started it for us...Far Guy told him how to start it. Jen gave us a full tour via facetime. It needs new brakes or they would have taken us for a ride!
It is an awesome old car.
Far Guy is tempted...and I support his decision what ever that will be.
He said "What would we do with it?" I answered...drive around on Sunday afternoons...and make out in the backseat.

ReplyDeleteAbsolutely! I really do wish I had something like this to drive my hubby around. He can't drive anymore, but this would certainly peak his interest! Some would say it was a waste of money, however money can buy beautiful and fun memories while it can't do much but sit there in an account!

This made my heart happy this morning.
Our neighbors across the street - - the husband and buddies restore old cars like that and go to car shows a LOT! Evidently many people in Cleveland TN enjoy the same passion because in the summer time, they close the downtown streets for the opportunity to park your old car and then go look at others.
ReplyDeleteI remember how big the bench seats were in the old cars. The back window - - we would take turns as kids lying up there and looking out at the street lights and stars at night.

Check them out for car parts - - both new and older cars. They are a great deal. The mechanics around here us them frequently. Prices are amazingly economical. (I do Not get any commission from them. We just like them.)

ReplyDeleteWhen my husband graduated in 1975 I bought him his dream car for his graduation present. $50 for a 1957 Chevy in need of restoration. At first it was the expense of newlywed, a down payment on a house, five babies in seven years. Now I realize that it is the journey, not the completion. It is still in the garage. At this point it is totally disassembled again, completely stripped of all paint, I'm not sure where the seats are . . .

ReplyDeleteYou Kids and your Fancy Cars.... I LOVE going to small towns and walking around those "Coffee and Cars" events. You never know what you will find. Old and new, bad and awesome. Project cars that mean nothing to anyone except the person who found it. ( One guy tracked down his first Truck, found it in a farmer's field. Restored it to its "brand New" glory...So fun!)

ReplyDeleteOne word of warning, classic cars are money pits. You're always spending money on something for them. But if they bring you joy, I say go for it!

Maybe by next Sunday we will have heard... and you'll probably keep part of that to yourself. 🤣🤣🤣 Jerry and I always go to the vintage/hot rod shows on Main Street here in our town. Of course those aren't being held this year. I grew up next door to a guy who built hot rods from scratch and did so all his life. Sadly he died last December, but his memorial service was a big event dedicated to his lifetime work on those cars... the church parking lot and all along the streets everyone who knew him brought their vintage and hot rod cars in honor of him. // We await to hear about Far Guy's decision lol.
ReplyDeleteI love old cars! They really take me back. When I was a kid we had one in that 60's aqua color with fins. They were like tanks and didn't even have seat belts! You will have fun with it if you get it!
