Well we did it. We bought a new vehicle.
It has a few things our other Buick did not have..this one has an engine heater (for sub zero days) and the lift gate lifts by itself if you want it to. Handy if you have your hands full and can stand on one foot and wave the other under the car with out falling over. This one is a Buick Encore GX and it has more headroom and legroom than our previous Buick.
The color is called Azure Blue.
I don't feel real guilty as we saved up for this vehicle for quite some time. No car payments has been our goal...and we did it. Now we will begin saving again for the next three years and the next new vehicle. At our age having a reliable vehicle under warranty is a plus.
My super dooper Weather tech floor liners fit just perfect from one car to the other. I am totally sold on those liners...they contain the melting snow in the winter and the sand in the summer and make cleaning up a vehicle a breeze. I have not been compensated in any way by the Weather tech company but if they want to send me back seat floor liners or a hatch liner...I will give them a whirl.
It took us quite a while to get everything switched from one vehicle to the other. I certainly didn't need two Minnesota road maps....not sure why I need one...but I have one just in case.
We haven't had a vehicle this color before...Red, Black, Red, Green, Navy Blue and White, Silver Blue, Red, Tan, Red, Black, Black, Turquoise, White, Light Green, Baby Blue, White, Willow Green were colors we have had before. One of those vehicle was a favorite of mine and I drove it for 20 plus years it was a 1984 Navy Blue and White Ford Bronco II that I bought used in 1987...I cried when it left the yard...no tears were shed yesterday...three years isn't long enough for a real attachment to a vehicle.
Far Side
Nice ride! Our Subaru comes with floor mats like that to catch gravel and gobs of mud and snow in all places including the back. Easier to clean than picking it out of the carpet right?
ReplyDeleteLovely color! I tend to like the red/dark red colors but that is me.
An engine warmer would be nice.
Congrats on a very nice looking ride!
Glad you're happy with your new car so far. Hope it serves you well for however long you end up having it.
ReplyDeleteI love your new car and especially the color! Blue is my favorite. My favorite car we owned was a Chrysler - - but we have totally enjoyed the reliability of our Hyundai that is our current car. It had comfort bells and whistles.
ReplyDeleteI have heard WeatherTech advertised but you are the first person I know to have talked about how good they are. Maybe other friends have them, too but they have never mentioned them.
I am very, very happy for you and proud of you all for saving up for it so you have not taken on any debt for it.
Congratulations! It's beautiful and looks like it will serve the two of you very well for the next few years. I would love to have a new car, since I never have had one.
ReplyDeleteLove the colour!
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful, enjoy!
ReplyDeleteVery nice! We ordered our first new car when we retired. It is a giantantic Traverse. We needed room for as many carseats as possible for grandchildren. We can fit 4 regular carseats and one booster or up to six in a combination of boosters, carsests and infant seats. The selling point was that I could tip the second seat to allow access to the third seat without removing a carseat. All this and room for gramma and grampa in the front. We call it our school bus.
ReplyDeleteLast vehicle trade I made - I also found 2 Minnesota road maps and I don't even live there anymore. :-) Maybe they multiply when alone. Love the color of that SUV.
ReplyDeleteVery nice!
ReplyDeleteWe bought a new Volkswagen a few years ago for that same reason - important to have a reliable vehicle - but I still love and drive my 20 year old Chevy for trips close to home!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteYAY for you!
ReplyDeleteThat is a gorgeous car! Have fun riding around in it... or just looking at it sitting in the driveway!
ReplyDeleteWhoohoo! Nice! :)
ReplyDeleteWe bought one of the first Broncos on the market. On assembly they did something wrong to the front wheels. So instead of getting a 4 X 4, we got a 4-2.
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful car. Congrats and I hope you enjoy it! Happy weekend. Mildred
ReplyDeleteHeeeeeeeeeee, you DID get one! Love that color, very pretty car.
ReplyDeleteThat is really pretty! and such a pretty shade of blue. How in the world do you remember the colors of all the cars you've owned! That is amazing.
ReplyDeleteThat is a nice car. Larry and Nita have a Buick Encore and I've driven it often. Neither of them like to drive so when Dennis or I are with them, we usually drive for them. I also have the weather tech liners. They are wonderful! I've had them with my last two CRV's and I'm lucky enough to have the hatch liner and the backseat ones too. I made them throw them in as part of the deal and now I never want to go without.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your car!
Blessings,
Betsy
Definitely need that engine warmer in upper Minnesota! I installed on in my Jeep when I lived in Alaska. ( I actually thought Minnesota was COLDER! That wind off the great plains is BRUTAL!) I also had a battery heater and coolant heater/pump. Alaska sees -30 degree days all the time. ( but no wind.. it is a HUGE difference.) Buicks are pretty good vehicles. My Dad had one. I hated driving it because it felt like we were floating on air... so I could never tell how fast we were going. Subaru's allow you to feel the road. Something I like a lot as it prevents me from speeding. ( I can tell how fast I'm going simply by the vibrations in the accelerator.) I know what it is like to get attached to a vehicle. My Dad Cried when Mom forced him to give up his Delta 88 Oldsmobile. I certainly loved my Misty Dawn Subaru. But Silver Bullet Subie is doing fine so far... I'm not ready to give him up if I can help it.
ReplyDeleteThat's a real beauty! Congratulations and enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteI love my weather tech floor liners and I would be willing to try out a back seat one too if they'd send it to me :-D.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your spiffy, debt-free purchase! Gorgeous choice. (Disclosure: I grew up with a grandpa who was a Buick salesman, so I've always had a soft spot for that brand of car.)
ReplyDeleteLove the color! My Subaru Outback is a similar color - more of a royal blue.
ReplyDeleteGood-looking car. Congratulations on paying cash.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your beautiful new car. I can't imagine having a new car every three years. but then we don't have your driving conditions.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty color! Congratulations on your new ride!
ReplyDeleteCONGRATS on you beautiful new family member!! DON'T let anyone make you feel guilty about it, enjoy it, have fun adventures in it!! I wish you many happy and safe miles!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteIt is a beauty. I like the color and I am jealous. Yes, our warranties are now going away. Ford Lincoln is sending me brochures showing that their Continental looks like the Buick car that they don't make anymore. Enjoy the new ride!!!![
ReplyDeleteYour new vehicle looks great! I like the color too. Yep, we use the weather tech liners in all our cars too. Gosh, I wonder if I could sit down and make a list of all the car colors we have had over the years. My favorite vehicle to drive has been a silver Jeep Grand Cherokee!
ReplyDeleteI'm not at all surprised that you bought a different car. Lovely colour too!!
ReplyDeleteI like the colour and the design getting a neew caar is always a nice feeling as long as you picked it out. The only car my parernts didn't like was one they got stuck with when they went guarentee for my uncle.and he didn't make payments

ReplyDeleteCongrats on the new car and thanks for supporting the country where you live by buying an American made car.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!!! It's like having a baby! All new and shiny! Very exciting. It doesn't happen often in life same with houses. It's a beauty and I love the new conveniences! Enjoy!
