Yes several readers guessed correctly. I am revisiting the old craft of making potholders that I enjoyed as a much younger person child.
Where the witchcraft comes in...there are several websites out there that have wizards where you can put in two colors and it will show you many patterns...one site has many potholder weaving charts in black and white so you can pick and choose your colors.
What fun! At least I think so. It gives my arthritic fingers and wrists a good workout!
I like the larger finished product of the Pro loom kit. The potholders finish at 8 inches by 8 inches...a very nice size for potholders or for a spot to sit a warm pot on your table.
Oh I loved making those as a kid. I'd love to have a large enough loom to make a small rug like that!
ReplyDeleteI crocheted a rug once out of old dress shirts I ripped into strips. I may do that again.
I love the colors!
Laura was making these last winter. I think she found the mold loom the girls used. Yours look nifty.
ReplyDeleteYay about no cavities. That’s something to celebrate.
I love the potholders, which brought back memories of earlier days.
ReplyDeleteI have that same loom except the smaller one. I like the large potholder size you're making and so pretty!
ReplyDeleteThat's fantastic!
ReplyDeleteO what nice! The colors, the craft. Thanks for showing.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! I don't recall making anything like this, but it look fun. I asssume you use the crochet hook to finish the edges?
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear Far Guy was able to get some fresh air.
Yes the third photo shows the crochet hook:)
DeleteMy loom as a child was metal also. I didn't know they made plastic ones. Those wouldn't be too sturdy, I'm guessing. I need some new potholders....maybe I'll dig out my loom....wherever it is! Love, Andrea xoxo
ReplyDeleteSounds like a very good day!
ReplyDeleteHurray no cavities! I have a big time dentist phobia. I like the potholder. Another new thing to me.
ReplyDeleteWow looming potholders got fancy since I was a child! Yes, also remember they were too small and singed. I think the many options are wonderful. Loom on!!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty!! I remember doing so many of those as a kid, and didn't realize the looms and loops were even still available. How fun!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the bright colorful pot holders! I never had one of those kits as a kid, so I was clueless. I don't think I ever saw one, either. My mom was only into sewing and knitted she passed through for a few years. So we never went to craft stores...only fabric stores. And back then JoAnn's had mostly fabric--lol! They are really cute!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the dentist. Yes, the smoke is less after the rain. Still 73% humidity, but much nicer! Wild rice sounds delicious! Haven't had that for so long.
Have a wonderful day. :)
Yay for the great dentist report. I do remember my mom having some of these. I'm thinking this might be a good project for my niece and her friends to make at the home she lives at. The residents are all disabled in some way but they are very good at using their hands to create. Looks like a lot of fun Connie..
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh! I
ReplyDeleteMy brain did not go to potholders when I saw your previous post. Your finished potholder is beautiful! I have a similar type frame, but the pegs (actuallly nails) are farther apart and it is for making trivets. Fun to learn what your frame is for. Thanks for sharing!
Goodnight Gram
I had a metal loom and I loved making pot holders- years ago. It is a very soothing hobby, and you reminded me of it. Congrats on a clean bill at the dentist. Have a good weekend!
ReplyDeleteI like the colors!
ReplyDeleteYour pork chops and wild rice sound great. glad you had a good dental report. Glad far guy could sit outside for a bit.
