More yellow and a little green

On the way into town to pick up my Dad for our Bingo date I stopped by the sunflower field.

What fun to photograph such beautiful blooms.  I like this field ...there is a safe spot to pull off the highway.

I have to bee careful on account of the bees and my epi pen was at home.  The bees were more intent on the blooms than me...good thing.

Oh and the green.
Well we had an uneventful night at Bingo until the last game.   The big one... Blackout for 1,000 dollars.   Yes I Bingoed but so did two other people so we had to spit the loot and I split again with my Dad cause we always play one wins we all win.  So Dad and I  went home 130 dollars ahead and had a free night at bingo. ( Bingo cards are 30 dollars for the evening.  We play double packs and then buy 7 extra cards for Blackout.)  My Dad really enjoys Bingo.  When I called at 4 PM to check on them and make sure Dad was feeling okay and wanted to go to Bingo...Mom said "He already has his shoes on and is waiting for you."

  2. I have a version of these blooming around the east side of my porch. Two versions have cross pollinated over the last two years so some are reddish and some are taller and ... shorter! I love watching them! The ones this year have multiple blooms and...the bees, chickadees, and goldfinches love them!

  4. What a gorgeous field. I hear there is a sunflower field around here because I have seen high school seniors using it as a backdrop. I will have to try to find it. Because I don't think ahead, I did not think about bees!

Wowza - what a great night as bingo. I used to volunteer at a weekly fundraising bingo here in town. I love the people. Friends would come early, play cards to fill the time before Bingo started, enjoy an inexpensive sandwich for dinner and have a great evening of fellowship with their friends. One year I made a "Thanksgiving Dinner" for the week before the holiday. I had gotten an extra "free Turkey" with points since I was feeding 5 teenagers. I fixed a roaster of mashed potatoes, a crock of gravy, a roaster of homemade dressing, and a couple cans of cranberry sauce from Aldi. We fed the whole room for around $20 and everyone really enjoyed it.

Winning is just icing on the cake. I think it is so great that you and your dad do this together.

  5. Great win at Bingo! Shame you didn't win it on your own, but it's always nice to come home ahead. I haven't played in years but remember we always had fun. I only won a jackpot once but my friend and I always split the wins regardless of how big/small they were.

That sunflower field is lovely. Glad the bees were kept busy and away from you.

Beautiful field of sunflowers and how convenient that there's actually a spot to pull over and take a picture.

  16. I love Bingo as I have fond memories of my Aunt taking my cousins and I to the VFW for Bingo night. Back in the day when kids could be around smoke and booze and gambling! LOL! Those were the good old days! Congrats on your win!

  20. Congrats on the big bingo win! What a gorgeous crop to grow, the sunflowers. I have never seen a field of them, but some farmers here grow a row of sunflowers on the outside of their corn crop. I think it's just for the looks more than anything.
