On the road again

Took a drive out on the new road to see how far the paver got today.  4 miles!!  Yeah for us we have half a road now.

This is our corner.  Soon the long trips around will be history along with a constantly dusty car.
This section of road used to have a large hill...not so much anymore. We followed the water truck along, he will make passes all night long so it is good to finish paving.

I may wash our vehicle today just to get a layer of dust off.   By the weekend both lanes should be paved...and maybe even the center line marked...progress!!

  2. That sure was a long project! I would love it if they could take down some hills around here...alas, our whole area is nothing but hills and curvy roads!

  6. One of the biggest surprises for me when I returned to drive the country roads near our old home. They had a paved highway, north and south, out of the town where I went to school. You will enjoy all that paving.

  11. When I was growing up we lived on a dirt road - I understand what it does to your car! It will be great when the road is completed!

  15. Well, it just turned out that we get to join you in the newly-paved road category. Woke up to beeping trucks, and before we knew it, our entire access road was torn up, down to the dirt. It's not as long as your project is (we only drive down it for a tenth of a mile, then turn off), but our miserable, crumbly road is finally being replaced! I guess it is safe to say "yay" even though it is far from done...we'll be out of town for a week, though, so we can hope...
