Whats for supper?

That seems to be a question around here everyday.  I chose what to cook yesterday. I asked for input on the chicken and was met with varied answers so I made it cooks choice.

This was my plate and yes I scooched that asparagus over after I took the photo.

It made for a pretty plate of gluten free food.  Scalloped potatoes: I made a rue with brown rice flour and butter then added the milk and poured it over sliced red potatoes and diced ham. Chicken: thighs stripped of their skin and fat, browned in butter and a bit of bacon grease and then baked in the oven.  Asparagus: I sprinkled the spears with a fine olive oil from Spain and dusted them with parmesan cheese, and baked them for about ten minutes. Delicious if I don't say so myself.

Tomorrow it is a burger with leftovers.

Our weather has turned nice and warm for this time of year...a hint of Spring is in the air but I am certain it will not last long. Our daytime high yesterday was 41F or 5C eh!

I re watched the first season of 1923 because season two is out. I enjoyed the first season again very much! I also watched Lion on Netflix...a great movie well worth the time to watch.

  1. I rewatched the first season of 1923 a couple of weeks ago, then watched the first episode of season 2 last night, it looks like it is going to be a good one!

  3. I've been a sucker for the Yellowstone trilogy of shows, my favorite probably being 1883. I enjoyed the first season of 1923 and the first episode of season two looks like it will continue to be good.

  4. The chicken and asparagus is one of my favorite meals lately. I roasted asparagus and carrots on Friday to go with our steaks. Yum!

  5. Okay, chicken. I swear it is such a challenge to come up with a dinner menu seven days in a row, week after week. Thank you for the delicious suggestion.

It reached 91F here in Yuma yesterday, and we're expecting the same temp today. It's a bit too hot for me.

  10. It got warm here and the snow is really melting which creates a beautiful sound of water running through the woods.
Our supper was. Um. Mine was soup, the sick one wanted oatmeal. Boring.
I read a book last night and now need to go get more books from the library.

  12. If you like Billy Bob Thornton, you gotta watch "Landman". It is on Paramount, but worth a months subscription. We have watched it three times, and always are seeing something new.

  13. This looks like a very good meal to me. I am one that might eat asparagus, or I might not.. Not one of my favs, but I will make an effort to eat it. Burgers sound so good...Since Sam cannot eat beef of any kind, I rarely have a burger myself.

  16. I just started watching the first season of 1923, and I’m enjoying it. I didn’t care for any of the Yellowstone episodes I saw earlier, so I was surprised how much I like 1923.
