Thursdays are almost always the same. Drop Far Guy off at the hospital door to get his weekly infusion. Pick up the grocery order from Wally World...this week I had to wait over 30 minutes for my order because some store idiot cancelled it. Then off to a craft store this week was Michaels turn as Far Guy had a couple of things on my list. AND well there is yarn there...
I was feeling the green this week. This color is called spearmint. Only one cashier there so I stood in line a bit. Then it was time to head back to the hospital and wait in the old hospital parking lot for Far Guy to summon me. I only waited 6 minutes when he messaged me that he was done. We went out for very late breakfast/lunch/early supper and then came home to Sadie.
Far Guy had a nap, he has started meds for a cold?/lung issue that has made him very short of breath...possibly too much perfume/aftershave at the clinic appointment last Monday has irritated his lungs.
I was seen by the Neurosurgeon on Monday. He believes my pain problem is not from my back but from my SI joint on the left side. He has ordered SI injections for me in two weeks. I have a congenital defect in that my spinal column is very small for my spinal cord and I have some slippage L4 L5 and S1 but not enough to cause all my pain...or so they say. I am still doing exercises, heat helps also time in the massage chair and the recliner. I am also scheduled to see a Doctor at the Pain Clinic in March. FYI the Steroid Injection that I had on Feb 3 did nothing for my pain and made my left leg, foot and toes numb.
I began a course of Prednisone on Tuesday as the pain on the drive to Fargo was horrid on Monday...and left me exhausted. One day at a time. The Prednisone takes the edge off the pain...it is not totally gone but is more bearable.
Goodbye to the month of February!
Far Side
I hope you bought some good stuff at the grocery store. Sorry Far Guy is not feeling well.
ReplyDeletehoping you fare much better in march....lovely yarn!
ReplyDeleteSounds like it is a good thing to put February behind you! So sorry you have to go through all this pain. I hope the SI injections will help. Maybe they got it right this time.
ReplyDeleteThat is a very pretty green yearn.
It is my right SI joint that gives me all that pain, but it's definitely getting better. I'm hoping for the same with you and still saying prayers for FG's health.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry you continue to deal with the pain. I'm amazed at all you get done, even while dealing with it.
ReplyDeleteI hope Far Guy is feeling better soon. I have mild scent sensitivities and get annoyed by people wearing copious amounts of fragrance. The cleaning aisle in stores has me holding my breath and hustling down it as quickly as possible. I can't imagine dealing with it with a serious lung condition.
I can't understand why perfumes and aftershaves, etc., are worn in a medical facility at all. I'm sorry they irritated the Far Guy's lungs. I hope they can find a solution to your pain.
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting how the surgeons look at different causes than the rheumatologists or other doctors. I keep hoping they'll find the cause and put a stop to that pain.
ReplyDeleteI wish you could say goodbye to pain.
ReplyDeleteManaging pain is so frustrating, and it seems to go up and down of its own accord.
ReplyDeleteLove the colour of your yarn, but I confess I cannot knit with that type of yarn! I just find it sticky and don't enjoy it a bit! It's too bad because it makes such soft things!
ReplyDeleteI feel your back pain issues... chasing to find a cause. I started having issues in my early 20s, and the chiropractor told me it was my SI joint. We treated "flare ups" on and off for years until my early 30s when it got so bad I couldn't walk and ended up in the hospital. I finally got an MRI ordered and we discovered I have a herniated disc. (Between L4 and L5). I was given strong shot of painkillers (a morphine cocktail as my dr called it) to get me walking again and then symptoms treated with a mix of anti-inflammatories, muscle relaxers and milder painkillers (Tylenol-3). I lived in a constant state of low-level pain until I started working from home (about five yeas ago). Once I wasn't stuck in a car for an hour (or more) commute, and then stuck at a desk all day (trying to look busy if I wasn't). Once I was able to get up and move more throughout the day, the pain lessened appreciably. It's still always going to be with me - especially when I move too much (ie after a long day in the garden), but it's tolerable now. I hope you can find a treatment that gets your there. I know how exhausting pain can be.. especially when nothing is working.
Between my fused spine and my irritated hip nerves and tendons, I am dealing with nerve pain along with rehabbing my knee. Being complicated is not fun.
ReplyDeleteI think we're twins with our doctor appointments! I also saw a neurosurgeon on Monday for my back. He doesn't want to touch it. The cyst is on my spinal cord and they would need to remove part of my spine and put it back together with screws. That's IF the cyst removal didn't paralyze me. Since I don't have much pain from it so far, (unless it grows more), they're going to wait and see. The muscle spasms are a different story and I'll be back at the Pain Clinic next week for another appointment there and see whats next in their bag of tricks.
ReplyDeleteI feel for you my dear friend.
I'll be praying for Far Guy to soon be feeling better with the medications help.
Blessings,
Betsy
Spearmint green is very pretty. Hopefully March will be more comfortable for you than Jan/Feb have been.
ReplyDeletePraying for far guy to heal from his cold and for you to finally get rid of your pain!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear that you and Far Guy are suffering! I am praying that you both heal.
