Who knew?

I saw these UGLY Poinsettias in the grocery store the other day.  Why anyone would spray a perfectly pretty white poinsettia this awful blue is beyond me.

A dear old friend once told me "it takes all kind to make the world go round" and then she would giggle.

Far Guy and I made it to the Car Dealership for an oil change and tire rotation without buying a new car, I think Far Guy accompanied me just so I would not buy a new car.   After that for a really exciting time, he dropped me off at the Clinic for a blood test the Rheumatologist ordered.

My back pain has changed, the pain does not go away when I lay down after the injections...so I am more restless and get up often.  The pain is a full dull feeling...maybe it will get better with time... I sure hope so. ( I want my no pain time back)

Christmas card report: Only 6 were finished for a total of 53 so almost half way.  I have a bunch coming down the assembly line in the next few days.  Drying time is holding me up...four dry times...background watercolor must be dry before proceeding, then drying time for the foreground watercolor and then for the gouache ( it makes snow) and then drying time for the glue. Uffda.  I didn't know how time consuming this project would be.

  1. Lol...not buying another car....
I'm with you on the blue paint, awful!!
Have you ever seen a Chiropractor? Hands on Chiropractor? Check with Sports medical places...If you haven't had major surgery on your back, I think a good one could help you.

  2. You are right about those poinsettias. What a travesty. And sorry to hear the pain is not better, just different. Fingers crossed that you will soon be pain free.

  3. That's funny. I did want a new-er vehicle but this one works so well that we will just stick with it.
    Would you change colors? ;)
I'd go with a new color if I had a choice. LOL.
I sure hope the back pain starts to do much better. I will keep my fingers crossed for you.
I wonder if the shots are the cause of your restlessness?

Those cards must be a wonderful work of art!

    1. I bought our last vehicle during an oil change appointment. Yes I want a red car instead of blue:)

  4. Mom, use a hair dryer to speed up the drying times.

  5. Steroids make one “antsy”. Maybe this will subside.

  6. I for one, think you should buy yourself a new car for Christmas! When Far Guy asks you what you were thinking just tell him "it takes all kind to make the world go round"!

  7. So what you are saying is you can't be trusted at a car dealership or in the yarn store? LOL!
Darn that pain, I sure hope you get some relief and soon.

  8. It hurts my heart you are having to deal with the constant pain. However you are an amazing woman to persevere and keep doing the things you enjoy - - - like the cards. Those are a huge gift to the recipients this year for sure because of your health issues.

  9. Something that's worse at night really interferes with sleep. Sleep helps in our recovery.

  10. The time will come when you have bought your last new car. I think I am there, but it sounds like you might have one more new one in you. I say go for it, you just never know when it will be your last one.

  11. The blue is horrendous! I've been thinking about trying a chiro again for my back. I did in 2021 but my pain was so bad I couldn't take it. That's a good suggestion about the hairdryer.

  12. Sounds like the sharper pain might be gone or going? That is a huge shift. There is hope then that this wider dull pain will go, too! I really, really hope so!
Now's the time to buy a red car. Well, soon. They are always willing to do deals after Christmas in the dead of winter. ;)

  13. Buying a new car is a joy for you. Not for me. We drive ours forever and they are used when we buy them.
Constant, nagging pain is awful. I so hope relief is coming.

  14. My husband has gone to get an oil change and come home with a new car. More than once actually. Keeping my fingers crossed that the back pain decreases soon.

  15. Absolutely agree with you about the horrible blue poinsettias. Ugh! And I do hope your back injection kicks in properly. Back pain is so debilitating.

  16. A new car. We've thought about it. Briefly. But ours just drives too well. It's only 6 years old so we'll keep it for awhile yet. It would be nice to have built in GPS for our travels but the phone works well too.
I'm so sorry about your back. You just changed one thing for another, but hopefully it's a progression with the shots.
Good job with the cards. I can't believe you're plugging away on them when you're in so much pain.
My sore throat is finally gone but I have no voice and I'm still coughing. I did get antibiotics on Wednesday so I'm hoping to see a more positive change soon. Dennis is going gingerbread house decorating without me tonight and probably a funeral in northwest Iowa on Monday. I don't want people to freak out when I cough so much so I'm just staying home.
Take care and rest a lot my friend.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  17. We finally broke down and bought a new care just a couple of months ago...I was sad about getting rid of my other car, but we just couldn't get any reasonable coverage in case something needed fixing. Hopefully, this new care will last us for many many years with full warranty. Hoping that you will soon see a big difference with your back and get some much needed relief. My back has gone out a few times and the pain was terrible... I know how irritating the pain can be. fingers crossed for you...

  18. Oh dear Connie, I wish I could make your pain go away. It sounds so awful. Know that I'm praying for you to get better soon. Sorry your Christmas cards are so time consuming this year. What an ambitious project!

  19. I think the pale blue Poinsettia I saw didn't look quite as gaudy as the ones in your picture. Even so, I was disappointed to find out they were painted.
Sorry the injections seem to have made the pain worse. gM

  21. I thought they were pretty for the holidays but I didn't realize they were real ones. I'm so sorry you're still in pain. My neighbor is 85 and doesn't walk and has no health problems and no pain...she's a walking miracle! I'm walking 45 minutes each day and I start out great but about halfway home the hips start hurting, the legs start hurting, and the back. I have to sit for awhile after I get home. It's exhausting...where are the golden years? I hope you feel better and good job on the cards! I still have some things to do on my list.

  23. Oh gawd - those poinsettias make me think of the awful painted cacti that were all the rage last year! Horrible!

Thanks for the info on getting my poinsettia to get colour! It too late now but I'll keep it in mind for next year!

  24. Similar blue painted poinsettias were at our supermarket last week. Definitely NOT my taste.

  25. I understand wanting the no pain time back, and I don't even have a lot! And just hate back pain. To each his own about the poinsettia...I just simply love red too much to cover it up!

  26. I'm trying to keep my car forever. It's 20 years old and one of my best friends :-D.
