It was a year! Why is it as we age time seems to go by faster and faster?
Our oldest daughter Trica lives in Duluth Minnesota, we saw her one time this past year and that was at Paige's wedding.
Our youngest daughter Jen and husband Andy still live in East Grand Forks Minnesota and we spend the Winter months with them. They have a Golden Retriever named Sadie. Jen teaches at Northland Community College and Andy teaches at the University of North Dakota.
Savannah is doing well with her Lash business in Bemidji, Minnesota. She has two dogs Chewy and Kalila.
Maddie is a Dental Assistant, her husband Brenton works at Bobcat. They live in Grand Forks, North Dakota and they have "The Greats" Hey Mikey, Cee Cee and Peach. With a new baby due in June! They have a very busy household...two dogs Sam and Koda and a cat named Doug.
Paige married Cole in October. Paige is a Dental Hygienist and Cole works for a Irrigation Company. They live in Bemidji Minnesota. They have a dog named Rosie.
Noah lives in Grand Forks, North Dakota and works at Simplot, he supervises the cleaning of all the machines and the chemicals used. Simplot processes potatoes. Noah has a dog named Aurora.
Adam moved to Dickinson, North Dakota. He works at Menards in the plumbing department and will attend Dickinson State University this next semester. Adam's gal Courtney is also a student at Dickinson State University, if all goes well they will graduate about the same time. (2 years from now) Adam has a cat named Phoebe.

One of our bestest Winter friends Little Elvis died September 27, 2004 he was almost 15 years old. He had a good life. I miss him sleeping on his bed near the foot of my bed and as old habits are hard to break I look for him automatically when I get up during the night. I miss him.

Far Guy keeps busy; he woodcarves, fixes on his old car and occasionally he goes to a car show. He is my best sous chef and helps readily in the kitchen. His lung function is about 19% so we limit our activities to outdoor gatherings as much as possible. He rarely goes into a store because of perfumes, aftershave and cleaning products that people/stores use.
I keep busy, I have many crochet/craft projects in the works at all times. I am still struggling with pain from all my ritises I do daily exercises and should have bought stock in whoever makes Tylenol. One day at a time.
There you have it the big wrap up for 2024.
What will 2025 bring us? A new Great, time spent with those we love...both humans and dogs!
Happy New Years Eve! We have not stayed up late enough to ring in the New Year for a number of years.
Far Side
Happy New Year! I wish you and yours all the best in 2025.
ReplyDeleteI love this retrospective. I also love the message that FG wrote along with your lovely homemade Christmas card. I am blessed to have all of you in my life. We will have a Hopeful New Year ahead!
ReplyDeleteOur lives whirl by! With each trip around the sun we move slower with more hurts but also more joys.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! Hard to believe it will be 2025. I don’t know why time goes faster as we age, but it does! 😳 RHill, TX
ReplyDeleteA full year! We haven't stayed up for the new year, IN years, either...really, just another day to us old folks.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!
Donna
You've had quite the year. We don't stay up either. I can't keep my eyes open after 9PM and then I can't keep them shut after 10PM.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it wonderful when your grandchildren are doing so well! Hope for the future! I am sorry about your losses. The first year we joined our church, there were no deaths Not one. It isn't like that anymore.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Years Eve, Far Side. You had a full 2024, mixed with joy and sorrow. And yes, time is flying by.
ReplyDeleteHAPPY NEW YEARS!!!!
ReplyDeleteAlthough you had told us most or all of this throughout the year, it was still fun to see it all in one spot. It's hard to believe how many changes can happen in just one year. I wish you and Far Guy all the best in 2025. I have a feeling it could be a very interesting year for the world based on all the happenings now. I'm so glad to call you friend as we all navigate through our lives here.
ReplyDeleteBlessings and love,
Betsy
Your family has spread out a bit hey? At least you get to spend some time with most of them. My daughter lives in Ontario, I'm in Alberta and I haven't seen her for 3 years. But she is planning a spring visit here! I don't travel, my pension budget doesn't allow for it.
ReplyDeleteHope that 2025 brings as many blessings as possible!
I am so glad we connected online many years ago--through Karl, I believe, but my memory is anything but infallible these days. Happy New Year to you and FarGuy and all your beautiful family--two and four legged. Exciting to look forward to a new grand, too. Blessings to all! :)
ReplyDeleteOkay...nerd alert, but here is my nerdy answer to the question in your very first line.... time seems to go by faster and faster each year because of a math fraction. When a person is one year old and a year goes by, the fraction is 1/1....a large fraction. When a person is a teen, the ratio of the year to age is, for example: 1/13, 1/14. 1/15... etc... smaller fractions. When a senior is 75 years old, the fraction of a year to one's age 1/75.... even smaller fraction which, therefore "feels" so much faster/shorter. It's the feel factor fraction that makes what we perceive as time passing speed up. I didn't read that anywhere....tho it may be out in the universe someplace. I was thinking about time passing quickly a number of years ago and that's what came into my head. It does kinda work out to be a good answer, tho. Just think about the fractions.
ReplyDeleteGoodnight Gram
I like this analogy and have used it many times. It makes good sense to me. Have a great 2025.
DeleteHappy New Year!! I enjoyed the recap of 2024. I hope next year brings you good things!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed reading about your family and the year 2024. Sounds like you have a wonderful family and I can tell you all are big pet lovers. Big heart for that! Wishing you a wonderful New Year...2025! Hard to believe!!
ReplyDeleteThe older we get the faster the years speed by and we need to concentrate on what lays ahead of us, only checking our review from time to tie because only looking behind us means we are not seeing the wonderful things in front of us. So as we enter 2025, lets notice the beauty in front of us because it's there if only we choose to see it.
ReplyDeleteYou had an interesting year. All the best for 2025.
ReplyDeleteAnother year ending , more new beginnings. I am almost halfway through my 81st year on the planet, and holding on.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this year in review. Good wishes to you and your wonderful family.
We rarely stay awake until midnight either. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteYou write the best posts! I love the picture of Jen and Andy and Sadie. So sorry to hear about Little Elvis. He was sure loved, like all the other dogs in your family. You are so right about time going by faster now that we are older. I can hardly keep up with what day it is. :) You have wonderful grandchildren.
ReplyDeleteThe losses get to bet to many these days. A new baby on the way is happiness for sure. I seem to be moving away from tylenol finding other combo pain relievers working better. I am limited to anything else because of my heart drugs. I still miss my two dogs especially the border collie.
ReplyDeleteI commented without identifying myself as LD. I am really not unknown as I was a fellow border collie owner of Barney.
ReplyDeleteGreat recap! Being familiar with all of those you mentioned I can appreciate where everyone lives.
