Stockings

15 stockings were hung on the banister.

My stocking is a little red Church in the snow and Far Guys is the Santa on a Merry Go Round Horse.

Jen makes a pretty stockings for everyone and has extra plain ones when they forget to bring theirs.

Maddies stocking is new this year...it is the white one with the snowman...it still needs her name.

Jen does not get this stitching on felt talent from me...Far Guys Maternal Grandmother ( Clara Almeada also known as Meade/Meady) loved to make Christmas Stockings.

  1. These make Christmas special for each person. Larry’s mother made Laura one before 1980. The older they age the dearer they become.

  8. We never had Christmas stockings growing up, so I made sure Dagan had one. Those are great! And so many. Just makes me smile. :)

  10. Gorgeous stockings!! And each one personalized to the owner. The ones I made for everyone are at their own houses, and the ones at my house were store bought. But special either way.

  11. What a pretty collection of stockings.
We seven all have hand knitted ones, five originals made by Tom's mother and the grands', which match, found in a shop in Colorado.

  13. Special Tradition!! I have a handmade appliqued stocking my mother had made for me. It is red corduroy with a blue baby buggy and other "girl" toys. One of a kind. When my kids were all elementary aged, I saved and purchased needlepoint stockings with their names and two more for "mom" and "dad". It was a big expenditure but something I always wanted. I ordered on Black Friday for the discount. As usual, I did not do the math. Five children eventually means five significant others, and ten grandchildren. And people that leave the family and new people that are added to the family. And the price of those stockings and adding names is not cheap. But I am committed to the investment, lol.
    Your stockings are beautiful!!!

  14. That's a LOT of stockings. How fun that everyone has one.I think I spy yours and Far Guy's stockings. I made such pretty stockings for Alex, "T" and Baby J two years ago. Red and White intarsia knitting with their names on them. They were my first attempt at intarsia and I was really happy with them.
I hope you're enjoying some calm time now.
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy

  16. I love to do those type of stockings. Now-a-days I have no one to make a stocking for. Sorta sad.
