I am having some fun making some small zip up purses.
You start with stitches around a zipper and crochet around and around ...the zipper I used was 7 inches long...I am using cotton yarn. The pattern is Apache Tears.
It has been my "in the car project." The one with orange and purple on the right has already found a home.
Couldn't believe the electric bill...had to check it twice. The new Central Air saved us $66 versus last July with the 22 year old wall unit AC....and the Central Air has been on almost everyday. We thought it might be more energy efficient but did not realize what an energy user the old AC was.
This is the last day in July...the smoke from the Wildfires is miserable. Far Guy has been inside since noon on Thursday. He is getting a bit of Cabin Fever.

The purses are cute! Good car project. I'm sorry the smoke is so bad, it would be hard to be inside all the time.
ReplyDeleteI took a photo of the sun the other day at 2PM, it was an orange orb in a very nasty grey sky. I can now understand where you are coming from. Until we experienced it first hand the smoky skies were just that. But when a sudden fog like substance moves through the area and it smells like burnt plastic and wood...then the skies go grey and brown? Wow.

ReplyDeleteWe've been in a fog of smoky air since Wednesday, and I'm sick of it. It was so strange to step outside last night after it had rained all afternoon. It didn't smell like smoke anymore, but it didn't smell fresh like rain either. And that haze is still here.
I like the purses. I will look for a similar pattern on the Internet. Life is beginning to take on a pattern. But enough interesting things are happening so life is not boring. My granddaughter who now lives in Colorado stopped by a few days ago.

Our electric bill was awful this last time... the combo gas/electric was $350 but it was mostly electric. We've got to run two central ac units and one is 20 years old this year. ReplyDeleteI love those pouches! You are going to start a new trend with those. When we had a new A/C unit installed a few years ago I also noticed a big savings. That is always a welcome side to what you have to pay for them! I hope that smoke clears up soon so Far Guy can get back outside!

Not so good about the smoke you're dealing with. We were supposed to get some of that today here, but so far haven't smelled any of it. Hope it leaves your area soon! ReplyDeleteI hope the smoke gets blown away and your air quality improves . We had smoke and haze in our area today. One good thing was that it didn't get as hot as it has been. But we cut our walk short. I had a hard time breathing.
ReplyDeleteLove the purses. About 15 years ago we added a 500 sq foot addition, insulated the whole house and replaced the windows. And it cost less to heat and cool than before the addition! Good news on the AC, that's for sure.
ReplyDeleteWow, what a savings! Especially considering how much you've used that AC since you got it. I'm bracing for our electric bill this month...heat wave for a good part of the month put us over 100 and running the air until almost midnight. It won't be a cheap month.

I love those! I have hand sewn zippers into purses but it ain’t easy and I’m never happy with the result. This method looks like it’s worth a try.
