Perfect Match

My neighbor Phyllis had the perfect match for my antique floss problem.

So I can finish this sometime soon.  I wonder if I can duplicate the chain stitch...I will give it a whirl.  Thanks Phyllis!!   She also gave me a few skeins of yarn...I can make more nests.

It was a quiet day.  I watched two movies  The Laundromat (I give it a 5 out of a 10) and Saving Mr Banks  (I give that one a 9 out of 10).  I worked on my crochet projects.

Far Guy did some woodcarving and he had a nap.

  1. Woo hoo for generous neighbors! I just watched Mr. Banks on Disney. It was so good it made me watch Mary Poppins again.

  2. Awesome floss! You could Google the stitches and I'm sure they have You Tube videos on them. It's so pretty. I love the old designs for pillowcases and dresser scarves.

  4. Something about the picture of the scarf and embroidery thread that brought back a ton of memories. Embroidering was the first sewing mama ever taught me. I loved making dresser scarves, and have several and yes, I do still use them. I never could embroider as pretty as mama did. I love the scarf you are working on. The red flowers are so pretty.

  5. So glad she had the perfect match!
I saw Mr. Banks and liked it. Of course I love almost anything with Tom Hanks in it. Can hardly wait to see him as Mr. Rogers. :)

  7. I'm so glad that Phyllis was able to help with the floss. I'm sure you'll remember the stitches quickly.
I also enjoyed Saving Mr. Banks but have never seen the other movie.
Since it rained here most of the day we watched two movies too. Two different versions of "The Borrowers". Both were good but I think the books were better.
    Blessings,

  8. So glad you have a neighbor with the match! That is so cool! I bought some floss, figured it didn't matter if it matched as I had used all sorts of colors (I was after all a teenager at the time) on the part that was finished. Still don't know if I'll ever get it all done.

  9. Oh! Good! I thought I might have a match, but you have one now! Wonderful

  10. How fortunate your neighbor had the match! I shudder to think how hard it would be to find at my house. I do have all my sewing and embroidery in one huge closet, but in all honesty, it could take me days just to sort it and start looking. . . . My five year old grandson told me last week, "Mimi, you better get busy on your office or I am going to call that tv show".

  12. We enjoyed Saving Mr. Banks, too.

  13. Embroidery by hand is tough! I got an embroidery foot for the sewing machine. I also like using the PE 770... but that is all computerized... not much artistic talent there.

  14. Good luck duplicating that chain stitch. Hopefully as you embroider you'll remember how you did it before.

  15. How nice that your neighbor had just the right color floss for your project. It's a beautiful color too. So you watched two movies. I'm not much of a movie watcher although I do like the Hallmark Channel once in awhile. Pretty quiet here too...grabbed a pizza for supper! Take care you two.
