Thursday again

The native Columbine is blooming.

Columbine

Aquilegia canadensis

I mowed the lawn again, trimmed some, sprayed some Poison Ivy and a few other noxious weeds.  Took care of an ant hill that was growing larger by the day…and have a plan for its complete destruction.  Vacummed out the vehicle and various other jobs that were calling my name….those old repeat jobs; laundry, cleaning, scrubbing floors.  Far Guy has been grilling…hamburger one night and ribs the next so I am just incharge of fruit. Making weekly menus has really worked out well for us.

We have about 24 of the 2018 Christmas Ornaments ready to paint….so we are about 1/4 done.  I will wait for warm afternoons to paint indoors…or maybe nice days outside!

It has been a busy week!  We got rain on Tuesday night and the weather is lovely in the 70’s F….just perfect!

Far Guy has thrush again…and medication to take care of it…maybe.

  1. I hope to take some time this weekend to slow down and photograph the woods and the wildflowers. I love the wild columbines they are very plentiful right now.

  2. The weather is perfect here, too. Not too hot and not too cold. Hope that medication takes care of FG's illness. :-)

  3. You have been busy! I'm tired just reading this!

Glad the weekly menus are working for you, and you're making great progress on getting the ornaments finished, and the other tasks done.

Hope the medication clears up Far Guy's thrush.

  4. It seems like we are always over-whelming busy. And it seems like you are also. Sometimes I feel like just stopping and not doing ANYTHING ever again! Just like a donkey. Not until I feel like I want to, anyway.

  5. My columbine was crowded out by bee balm. I have always had some growing in my garden but not anymore. I am getting some jobs done but some viral thing is hanging around our house right now and we just can’t shake it.

  6. I’m sorry to hear about Far Guy being sick. I will keep him in my prayers for a fast recovery. I was doing very well on menu plans for several months, but we have changed the way we eat a bit and I’m struggling. It was so much easier when I knew what we were having every night and so I really need to get back to that again. Thank you for the reminder. Have a lovely afternoon my friend.
    Blessings, Betsy

    1. Spectracide. First on the hill and then I will rake apart the hill and treat it again. They are buggers and make trails all over.

  9. Your weather sounds nice. We have had a lot of summertime heat here. I don't do much outside in this weather and hope for a cooler morning to cut grass every week. I wish we could work out something on meals like you have done. Tom grills a lot but I feel like we do the same things over and over and I'm always looking for something different. Actually, I'd be happy if I didn't have to cook at all but I do like to eat! I hope Far Guy feels better soon. Thrush is no fun at all.

  11. I know what you mean when you write Thursday again. Seems it comes around pretty fast as do all those necessary chores that " call your name".
I pulled out a LOT of that wild bleeding heart this morning, the stuff that I have in my yard. It looks nice until it gets dry then looks bad. Pulling it out does not mean it won't come back next Spring.

  13. Sorry to hear that Far Guy is suffering again. Thrush can be so painful. You have been very busy. I am sitting here on my computer instead of being out trimming!

  16. I love the native columbine. We had then growing along the roadsides at strawberry time in the Willamette Valley.I always think of walking home from the berry fields when I see them.

  17. My corticosteroid powder can cause thrush. I was rinsing & gargling with just plain water after using it as recommended. I started getting some white spots inside my front bottom lip so did an online search and salt water is supposed to clear thrush. Now what I do is use salt water to rinse after inhaling that medicine. The added benefit is it helps with other infections that might be trying to start - - like a virus.
