It rained, we got over an inch of rain in the last day 1 inch and 1/10 to be exact.
Chance and I walked through the yard to see what was new or old.
The Late Lilac is almost done for.
The faithful old Border Collie is never far away.
The Border Collie was quite ill and threw up copius amounts of bile one day…suet/bird seed….in his old age he forgets what makes him sick. He must be watched closely.
Reminder to self: Self trim the Lilac right after it blooms before it sets buds for next year.
One last chance to inhale that lilac perfume for this spring! Mmmmmmmm.
ReplyDeleteLucky you getting to smell that fragrance one last time. A hug weed of some sort seems to have taken over my lilac bush. Guess that's why it didn't do well this year. Hacked away at that weed yesterday.

ReplyDeleteHow special to have a lilac blown so late in the spring. I love that smell! It’s so hard when our beloved pets age isn’t it? My Chloe is 12 and I see her aging greatly in the past year. It breaks my heart.

Yes very hard to watch our pets aging. Jake 14 this summer, and I think Chance is not far behind? We have to leave a light on at night for him now, he seems to have lost some of his night vision, and woke us many nights with some weird barking until we figured it out. Otherwise he seems fairly good, for his age at least, but definitely an old dog. I wonder if dogs even have the capability of connecting something they enjoyed eating with it's rather unpleasant result sometimes. Lilacs are lovely, we don't have any here, but lots hanging over from the neighbours at Oliver.

ReplyDeletePoor Chance. Karma never figured out that eating those Japanese beetles that look like orange lady bugs always made her throw up. Old age had nothing to do with it--LOL! All you can do is try to keep an eye on them. ;)
It's hard to be alert all the time to what dogs pick up and eat.

ReplyDeleteThe beauty of the lilac! I wish I could smell it through your blog! I am sorry to hear Chance has been sick. I hope he is beginning to feel better. It can be difficult to see our dear pets age. You take such good care of Chance - he is lucky to have you two and I know you are lucky to have him.
ReplyDeleteWe now feed Barney small amounts three time a day and keep as much grain our of his diet as we can. His treats have dwindled in number too. His old body was having trouble with grained filled, weight reduction dog food. Dry special lamb or chicken dry food mixed with cooked chicken white meat seems to work now.
