No Hugs Day
Our youngest daughter showed up with Miss Miney and Little Elvis so we sat outside and had a good visit!
Jen has been making felt creations. This she calls a pencil bag, it has a zipper and it is lined. She bought a new sewing machine and still has use of all her fingers. (When she took sewing in High School she sewed her finger...yes the needle was stuck in her finger...poking out the other side. The Doctor and I decided it was best just to hold her hand down and yank it out....painful but quick.)
The French Knots are awesome!
In the evening I social distanced with my brother, she who sees robins first, my sister and her husband and my Mom and Dad.
No hugs there either.
While I was gone our oldest daughter and Miss Paige called to wish me a Happy Mother's Day.
Maybe next Mother's Day we can have hugs back again.

Winter Wedding
Yesterday we attended the wedding of our niece Rachael. She has been praying for snow for the wedding. There was a fair amount of snow….and many of the outside photos show snowflakes.
Rachael and Chad were married in front of the fireplace in a lovely ceremony. Guests were seated at round tables, a brunch followed the 9:45 AM nuptials.
I took outdoor photos from the balcony.
The bride was beautiful. It seems like only yesterday when she was born. Now she is all grown up, graduated from College and married.
Can you guess what they did to celebrate?
They celebrated by joining their guests in some tubing down the big hill in front of the hall where the wedding took place. The guests especially the younger ones had a blast! Far Guy said “Go ahead and sled with the kids, I will visit you in the hospital.” I declined and was more than happy just to take photos.
The high yesterday was 11 F or –11C. Just another balmy day in Minnesnowda

April 29th on the 28th
I am not sure if I reminded you to change the batteries in your smoke alarm when we went to daylight saving time. If you didn’t replace them..put it on your list of things to do. I made Far Guy do it..he would like to eek out every little bit of juice from a battery and wait for the smoke alarm to start going beep-beep..not me..replace them:)

Wistful Wednesday: Milk Pails
This is a photo taken at Far Guys Grandparents farm. Left to right: Far Guys Dad( Marvin), Grandpa ( James). and Uncles (Jim) and (Ron) I believe that this was taken sometime around 1927..in that year the boys would have been 13, 6 and 9. It looks like they were all helping with the milking. That is what I would call a cream can ( because of it's size) being carried between the Father and his oldest son. I would guess and this is just a guess that they only had a few cows..perhaps three or four..as they have three milk pails and three of them could have milked at the same time...perhaps a few of their milk cows were in the process of drying up before they freshened. You cannot milk a dry cow..and they all dry up four to six weeks before freshening or the birth of a calf. It is like a mini vacation for the cow and for the farmer too..if you rely on milk everyday like I am sure this farm family did then you want to stagger the breeding of your cows so they don't all dry up at once. So much for milk cow info deep inside this old brain!
I think that this photo is a wonderful example of teamwork and farm families that worked together everyday:)
