One sundog

There were two Sundogs but I only got a photo of one.  Photo taken out of the windshield when I was safely pulled over.

I stopped and took this photo on my way back from PT and a trip to the corner of happy and healthy to pick up a prescription for Far Guy.  I have new exercises to do for my back and my bad leg.  I have known the Physical Therapist for a number of years.

Cold here...but at least its windy.

I plan to work on the puzzle while the rest of the household watches the Hockey game on Friday night.

Minnesota weather;  High was -3F or -19C Low was -20F or -29C eh.  Next week we will be 64 degrees warmer than we were if the weather predictions are correct.  Crazy extremes.

Supper was freezer meals...Far Guy had chili, I had soup and Jen had an egg sandwich.  Andy was working late.

  1. That is a beautiful sundog. I have seen a few over my long life but never got a picture like that.

  2. Cold is cold, but at least there is no humidity, smoke, or skeeters. Those are the positives I can make out of winter.
I haven't looked at the temps yet, but it is supposed to be windy on the ridges which means deadly cold wind chills.

You northern people are a strange breed.

  5. It's a deep freeze here and though briefly sunny yesterday I haven't been out long enough to see a sundog...if it appeared. Like you, our temperatures are expected to climb. I'll take it - this cold is hard to take. Hard on vehicles, animals, and people!

  6. Sun dogs bring some warm air please. I like going to therapy as I like exercise. I met a lady there that had back surgery and afterwards could not feel either leg. She was getting everything back. Made my problems seem small.

  7. Sundogs are so fascinating. But I prefer to view them from the warm comfort of "indoors". Stay warm!

  9. What is a sun dog? New phrase to this southern girl! Can’t imagine the kind of snow/ temps you regularly have. Stay warm!

    1. A sundog (or parhelion) is a bright, rainbow-like spot appearing to the left or right of the Sun, caused by sunlight refracting through hexagonal ice crystals in high-altitude clouds

  15. Great sky sign for dog lover you!
We have a bit of sunshine this afternoon, which won't last long before we are back to rain, possibly right up to Christmas. :-(

  16. Although I have seen a few sun dogs in my life I never really knew what caused them. Thanks for the info.

  17. LD...Your cold air is blowing right down to us for sure. It is so painfully cold. I can visualize the other half of the picture in my head. The therapists got my wife walking again and I am impressed with their processes used.

  19. I haven't seen any sun dogs for a long time. Hope the new PT exercises are helpful. I find it so interesting how exercises are adjusted.
