Our woodcarving this year took many twists and turns. We had a different design picked out but they are very time consuming so the first part of September we came up with a simpler design.
We finished all the wood carved ornaments finally.
Far Guy did most of the carving, I helped with the sanding and I wood burned the heart. Team effort! It was a tough year, but through our faith in our Lord Jesus Christ and prayer we made it through, so it is a fitting ornament for this year.
I have the last 18 Christmas cards in the works...I am slow this year. Some have been mailed.
We had a quiet Saturday, it was cold. We went and exchanged a Christmas puzzle that we finished in the hope that someone else might enjoy it this Christmas. Then we went to the grocery store...chicken wild rice soup is in the crockpot :)
Happy Winter Solstice! Now we begin to gain light again!

I think the ornament looks beautiful and perfect as a reminder for what this celebration is all about.
ReplyDeleteI like it, and the little heart.
ReplyDeleteAs you said, a beautiful and fitting ornament for this year. Praying 2026 is a much better year health-wise for you both. God is faithful! Merry Christmas. RHill, TX
ReplyDeletelovely and meaningful....
ReplyDeleteLovely ornament, and heartfelt.
ReplyDeleteHope the weather improves soon!
Beautiful ornament and most appropriate for your year! And happy belated anniversary! You are both blessed. Merry Christmas from AL, where our temp on Christmas is predicted to be in low 70’s - which is ridiculous, even for us!
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful ornament and so fitting for the season. I can certainly imagine the thought and the love that you both poured in to making this special gift. Sending you all love and blessing wishes. Hugs Connie..
ReplyDeleteThe simple design makes it more beautiful. You picked the best ornament to depict the year you have experienced and because of the cross a bright future awaits.
ReplyDeleteI too am excited about a little more light each day. Let light triumph over darkness✝️
Your ornament is very meaningful to you. That's good.
ReplyDeleteThe light is slowly creeping across the sky at 7:40 on this Winter Solstice morning. For the moment it isn't raining or blowing, quite peaceful actually. Yesterday was cookie baking day with the kids and grands. I'm a bit tired, but will enjoy a quiet day of bread baking - it's time to get the Swedish Cardamom bread baked and into the freezer for the festivities to come.
I wish you both Joy and Peace this week and into the new year,
I'm ready for longer days. BUT!!! Although, the light grows longer the days grow colder.
ReplyDeleteSweet ornament and very fitting for this year.
ReplyDeleteChicken wild rice soup sounds perfect for this weather!!
I hope you have a peaceful but fun Christmas. :)
Beautiful ornament! Well done, a perfect meaningful choice!!
ReplyDeleteThe carving and cards keep you going. Nicely done.
ReplyDeleteHappy Solstice to you too! We can renew our hope that the light will return.
ReplyDeleteYes, so glad we finally made it to the Solstice. I miss the light. Your ornaments are lovely and perfect for this year, as you mentioned. Your soup sounds good. Stay in and stay warm and enjoy the love all around you. God bless you.
ReplyDeleteSometimes simple is best, especially when it has so much meaning. May the good Lord keep you both and bless you for the coming year.
ReplyDeleteStill keep you both in my prayers.
What a lovely simple design, and a good reminder of how to handle a tough year through faith. Soup and sandwiches sound like a really ideal winter supper.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing the ornaments you make together every year!
