We took Ranger Blue into the Smoky Hills on Friday afternoon after the snow melted.
The Popples and some of the Oaks are still colorful.
Yesterday I stopped by the Nursing Home to see my Dad. He is more confused. He has a very nice room that looks out onto a patio/lawn area that would be a really great place to sit if the weather was nice.
Back at home I did a bunch of laundry and helped Far Guy with the Christmas Ornament project. We made a pork roast, mashed potatoes and gravy and baked carrots for supper. Comfort food on a chilly day! Having a roast in the oven makes the kitchen very cozy!
Our high on Saturday was 46 F or 8 C eh!
Far Side
Oh....a pork roast...that sounds lovely. But I'm sorry your dad is getting confused.
ReplyDeleteYou are absolutely right... roasting in the oven is something wonderful... just as wonderful as cake in the oven :-))
ReplyDeleteI've washed new fabrics and they're hanging outside in the sunshine and when they're dry I'll start with scissors, thread and sewing machine... I'm happy... I wish you a good Sunday. Viola
Now that's cold! We haven't had our first freeze yet, but it's coming, probably next week. My heart goes out to your dad.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry about your dad.
ReplyDeleteI like baking stuff in fall. Comfort food, indeed!
It's tough watching someone decline with dementia or Alzheimer disease. There is so little the medical staff can do, and it is as hard on the family as it is on the patient.
ReplyDeleteLast night was a pasta bake - definitely time for cool/cold weather foods.
I'm glad your dad is in a nice place but in his mind it must be very hard.
ReplyDeleteI keep thinking of cooking a roast or a stew, but we are still grilling outside in this extended, smoky summer.
Second snow...your third one will stick!
ReplyDeleteIt has to be hard on everyone to see your dad becoming more confused. I'm sorry.
ReplyDeleteI love cozy winter food, I made chili yesterday. The kitchen smelled so good.
A agree with your kitchen comment - the smell of a roast cooking makes for a very cosy comfortable homely snuggly feeling on a cold day :)
ReplyDeleteThis time of year is hard to be on a fairly liquid diet....I love to cook in the Fall and Winter...your dinner sounded wonderful! Food was one of my joys in life but it could be worse!
ReplyDeleteYour leaf show is still pretty! I wonder if the snow you had will hurry the leaves down??
ReplyDeleteWe had very little damage from Hurricane Ian ourselves. One tree fell across our road from the other side into our driveway from the and took down the power lines so we were without power all day and night. Crews came out during the night and it was restored the next day. Took us two days of work to clean up the yard and haul away debris. Access to a lot of the local beaches is still down but we have a couple places we know of to walk.
Having roast in the oven of an old wood stove makes things really comfortable.
ReplyDeletePretty fall photos. Our leaves "peaked" this weekend and the rain we will get tomorrow will undoubtedly shake a good many of them off the trees. It's nice that your dad has a safe, pleasant place to live. Pot roast... that sounds good! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteYour dinner does sound comforting. Dad's room sounds nice, I hope he can enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteWe had several family members over for dinner last night and I made chicken and noodles. My niece brought an apple/cinnamon dessert with ice cream for dessert. It was wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry about your Dad. Today would have been my Mom's 100th birthday. I miss her everyday. It seems crazy to me that she would be that old.
I hope you have a great Monday!
Blessings,
Betsy
Glad your dad got a nice room with a view. Your supper sounds yummy.
ReplyDeleteI actually made some homemade soup yesterday! Potato soup with leeks ... the smell was so heavenly.
ReplyDeleteMonday is supposed to be a record cold day here. Brr. But old man winter is ready to come charging in.
Those colors are beautiful.
Your dad seems to be in a safe place but it doesn't make it any easier. I keep revisiting things of all that have happened with the people in our lives. I am glad you and Far Guy can find some place of refuge amid this and the coming winter weather.
ReplyDeleteSorry your dad is confused but at least he is safe. I hope your mom is adjusting to the change well.
ReplyDeleteThe smell of a roast cooking in the oven really is perfect for this super chilly time of year! Sounds delicious! :)
sorry to hear about your dad, hoping for some good days in the near future!
