Painted Rocks and a book

We got special mail last week.

Rock painting

I have been to this place on Lake Superior…it makes me want to go back when it warms up a bit!  I love the idea of painting on rocks.

I found a good place to display it.

Border collie and stone

It fit perfectly leaning against the Border Collie that sits on the dining room window sill.

Train book

Far Guy got a book all about trains.

What fun to get stuff in the mail.  Thank you Larry!  It is wonderful to have such talented generous blog friends!

  1. Beautiful painting of Lake Superior on the rock. Of course, I love the border collie too. Looks like a fun book for FG. Hope you have a good Monday.

  5. My Mother lived on the ocean in Nova Scotia and would paint similar scenes on scallop shells... so glad my children have some of her work...

  7. I love the painted rock. At first glance, I thought that was Chance, and a bigger painted rock. I know!

  9. I have given the rocks to family until everyone has one. A teacher friend brought me rocks from the Pacific Ocean and specific scenes on them to paint on her rocks. That was a real challenge. I like the feel of that rock with its smoothness from rocking back and forth on the Superior shore for long years. We don’t have a shop anymore where I would sell them. So now I have started painting on them again until my rock supply runs out.

  10. Nice! I like the way your friend used the natural color of the rock for the rock in the painting.m

  12. Hmm That lighthouse couldn't have been sitting on a split rock could it. As to my 1947 007 gauge Lionel train I converted my ping pong table into a complete layout with switches, mountains, light towers, station and a mountain with tunnel for my two sons. As I recall they played with it once and got bored. I invited the physic teacher over with his "American Flyer and we played trains one who Saturday. When his mother informed my youngest in Arizona that I intended to sell the whole set up on Craig List I was informed that it was a family heirloom and I absolutely couldn't sell it. It cost a fortune to package it send it Arizona. In my efforts to downsize I guess I have to be more carefull....

  13. That rock against the border collie figurine made me do a double take! Suddenly that little rock was as big as Chance. Oh, wait.
That painted scene is one that I hope to explore in reality sometime. We have yet to travel to any part of the Great Lakes except around Buffalo, NY and Niagara Falls.

  15. At first I thought the same as Linda...that it was Chance and the rock was HUGE! LOL! But I quickly realized my mind was playing tricks on me...it seems to do that quite a bit lately! LOL! What a beautiful painting....is that the North Shore? I love that area and the lighthouses and of course, the lake! Great train book too!
