These are either my baby brothers children or my other baby brothers children…or a mixture of both. Three from one family and two kids from another. My best guess is from left to right Logan, Stacey, Ben, Kirk and Josh. But the little girl could be Ellen but I don’t remember her with a pony tail.

That old stump with the red tractor seat was a great place to sit without getting all full of sand. Then the stump rotted and had to be pulled out.
The swimming beach had a short dock (far left) for wet kids to sit on, no boats were allowed in this area, it wasn’t a half bad spot to swim for little kids. Our girls always hated the weeds, so they usually took inner tubes or the canoe out in the deeper areas. On several really warm days I was known to walk right on in clothes and all.
There was a cottage right on the beach with a deck where you could sit and watch kids in the water… when the cottage was not occupied it was one of my favorite places to sit and watch the goings on out on the lake, and escape for just a little while.
You have a good memory and lots of pictures. That's a pretty lake.
ReplyDeleteI have too many photos like that where I can't identify the people and it's frustrating. But luckily they evoke the great memories all the same. What fun times your family must have had Up At The Lake.
ReplyDeleteAt least your memory is still working good. Mine is getting shaky. Sure wish I was swimming in some nice warm lake right now. I miss all the fun times I had as a child swimming in a lake "Up North".
ReplyDeleteWhy am I not surprised that you would walk in the water clothes and all? I think you have always marched to your own drummer, and always will. Love the picture, whoever those kids are. :-)
ReplyDeleteI look at the photo and I would be like Peter Pan - I would want to be a youngster and never grow up - and go swimming in the lake every day in the summer!
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing like the lakes up North!
ReplyDeleteoh such memories - memories of playing and swimming at that little beach and that little cottage (I remember cleaning it) :)
ReplyDeleteWas this taken at your resort? I love that there was a safe place for the kiddos to be in the water.
ReplyDeletei Nancy, Yes it was taken at our resort:)
DeleteLovely. Nice to look at some sunny warm pictures in the middle of winter.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it funny how you think you will always know something and never forget it, but given enough time... LOL! Looks like a fun time for all the kids that's for sure. :)
ReplyDeleteYes, in January, this would be a pleasant wistful memory.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful spot. I hope all the children in the photo have this as a fond memory, too. I still remember the first time I stuck my foot in Lake Beltaine in Nevis. Such good Up North memories that I took my daughter and then later, my granddaughter to stick their feet in lake Beltaine, too. And thanks for the info about the broasted chicken place possibly closing. It's been two years since I was there.
ReplyDeleteI love how a photo can bring back good memories! This looks like a great place to spend a hot summer's day.
ReplyDeleteWonderful memories and looks like a great place to play.
ReplyDeleteWonderful memories! My cousin and I have been going through some old family photos and so wishing someone would have marked them so we would know who was in them. I suspect some of the children might be able tell you who is who.
ReplyDeleteSitting and watching the lake sounds like heaven to me. Great memories.
ReplyDeleteAs you describe it, it sounds so idyllic! Lovely memories.
ReplyDeleteWell, if you were blogging in 1989, you would have beat the pioneers! Funny how bloggers have so many ulterior motives when they do what they do...
