Helpers

Paige, Cole and Savannah came to help us out yesterday.  The house is clean again, recycling done, weeds sprayed, ants sprayed, our car vacuumed out...now we can relax a bit.  My baby brother came by and mowed our lawn again.   We are so appreciative of all the help!

I am feeling better, but I can sure tell when I overdo...either doing too many "things" or walking too much.  I still cannot bend over or twist or turn...and that is really hard for me.  I still have some numbness/pain especially across my buttocks and down my left leg and across to my big toe.  It makes walking a bit tricky sometimes.  I still have pain at the surgical site too...and a tiredness when I overdo.  I am not over my UTI and have asked the Doctor to prescribe a different med.  I saw my Rheumatologist last week...he offers no help for me, he just says "You have failed all the arthritis medications so I cannot help you." Alrighty then.  I asked him about my Ferritin level being so high and he said "We will check it again in three months." So no help for the extreme fatigue or the extra pain in wrists and knees.  I am not sure why I waste my time with him ( he is not a helper).

Far Guy is still struggling with nausea, burning mouth syndrome, acid reflux and tummy troubles. He is a trooper...he ate a bit more yesterday.  Trying to find food that he will eat is a challenge.  He gained a half a pound.  He is awfully skinny...he weighs 137 now.

  1. I do hope FG gains some weight; that is really skinny for anybody his height. I am glad you are better, too, and hoping for better and better to continue for both of you. Sending virtual hugs and prayers.

  3. If you've been on antibiotics it can ruin the good bacteria in your system so I've always taken yogurt to counteract it. Not sure if that will help your UTI but it's worth a try. Plus, the Boost for Far Guy would give him nutrition and be easy on his digestive system. I pray that you both recover and feel good again. I feel so bad that you are going through all this. So glad you have such great help at this time.

  5. My 54-yr old daughter has rheumatoid. She decided years ago to become a vegan. When she eats the wrong things, she really feels it!

  6. It can be hard to stay positive when there is so much pain... but you are surrounded by family love and the prayers of friends both in flesh and virtual. God bless you both.
    The begonias are beautiful.

  7. So glad you have many helpers as you need them. FG is very thin. I weigh more there does.

  8. Your family is wonderful. I had to doctor shop before I got any help. It's a sad state of affairs. You are both troopers, I'd say.

  9. Sounds like you need a new doctor/second opinion. You have the best helpers!

  10. Boy oh boy, it sounds like you need a new rheumatologist, Connie. Admittedly, there's not a whole lot on the market for osteoarthritis but there's a ton of things, from what I understand, for rheumatoid arthritis...with new things coming out all the time. I have no patience for rude doctors & yours sounds like he is one. *bleh* Still praying for your hubby. God bless him for trying to eat. Love, Andrea xoxo

  11. Thinking about both of you. Glad you have helpers. Unhelpful doctors are the bane of our existence.

  12. I feel for FG. When our grandson had leukemia and had to endure so much chemo, his mouth would be so blistered. He had a mouth wash mix of Benadryl, Maalox, and benzocaine. This helped him so much...those were hard days. Those nasty UTI's can make your back hurt as well. Glad you all have such good help.

  13. Prayers for you both! Good doctors are very rare these days and most don't listen! Those side effects of medicine are hard to deal with.

  14. I agree, you need a new rheumatologist - he sounds like a useless twit.
Sorry to hear Far Guy is having such issues. I've no idea what might be palatable, though thinking cool things like jelly or ice cream?
Glad you have such a wonderful, caring family and that you're willing to accept that help.

I hope very soon you will start to feel better; likewise Far Guy.

  19. Oh, my friend. I'm so sorry that you and Far Guy are having to endure all of this. That's waaay too skinny for him. Dennis had his semi-annual appointment today and the urologist is concerned about prostate cancer because his "numbers" keep increasing, so the day after we return home he has an MRI and several other tests scheduled. It's always something isn't it? You are so blessed to have so many helpers. You are one too and I know you've helped many when you were feeling better. Take care and I'll keep praying.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  21. Oh I'm so sorry to hear about how things are going for you guys. Your pain sounds terrible Connie and I can't believe your rheumatologist told you that. Nothing more he can help you with? Good grief. And far guy sounds so sick on those drugs. Praying for you both to feel better and get better soon. God bless you.

  22. Sending prayers. You had some "good people" around you ~ that is nice for the help and for the company.

  23. I hope you get some answers to your energy level...then you can tell them to me!! I hadn't heard of ferritin before, but my iron levels haven't been great, and that's all new - I was never that way before. I can't imagine what Far Guy is going through, how awful. Hugs to both of you!

  24. I hope you can keep getting better. It's so hard being sick. Prayers for both of you! And HEALING ENERGY!

  25. So very glad you had all the helpers there. Just warmed my heart. You are both so loved.
And we all hope you both get some relief. I wish you could find another rheumatologist but, sadly, I know there are precious few of them up here. The one I had for many years has retired and I quit going when he, like yours, said he had tried everything he knew of. Being on the medical merry-go-round is not fun. Thank God for family. In that way you are blessed. :)

  26. What a blessing that you have helpful family around. Can you kick that unhelpful rheumatologist to the curb? It doesn't even sound like he's willing to do any research on other treatments or other doctors for you. Grrr! Hope that FG will begin to feel less nauseous soon.

  27. I keep meaning to tell you. We found an ant killer that really works well. It's made by Bayer and it's called Tempo SC Ultra. Not sure what you're are using. I hope that you are both feeling better soon.
