Town

In town there is a wall of flowers on the fence that surrounds the Ace Hardware parking lot.

It has water tubes and I am certain they feed the entire wall frequently.  Some day I will stop and photograph the back side.

We had a quiet weekend, working on various projects, staying cool and watching a few movies.   We ran an errand into town yesterday afterward we stopped by my parents for coffee and to hook up their new printer.  They need a printer to make copies of the Yahtzee Score Sheets….they play Yahtzee every morning and sometimes in the evening too.

About a week ago my Dad was walking to his garden when he was threatened by two really large dogs…a Pit bull and a Rottweiler, luckily they backed off when he grabbed his garden shovel.  The next day my other baby brother reported it to the Police.  People need to keep their dogs under control and on a leash in town.  We drove by and the people with the dogs have a 6 x 6 foot kennel for those two large dogs…talk about stupid pet owners.

  1. Love the "wall of flowers". Sure is pretty. you are right - people need to keep their dogs under control. Hope the police did something besides just drive by. That kennel is way too small for those two dogs. The local animal shelter people should be notified as that is animal cruelty.

  2. Something needs to be done about those dogs before something worse happens. Now I am worried about your dad! Those flowers are sure pretty, though. :-)

  3. Love the wall of flowers. We always used to play Kismet. We kept score on a trophy. Many hours of fun.

  4. Well, Connie, where I live (in a city/suburb) walking in one's own neighborhood is a challenge.....dogs, loose and not so nice everywhere.

  5. How scary for your dad. Can someone monitor the situation with the dogs. How long they are in that kennel, etc. Is that their only options, in the kennel or loose, scaring people? If so, are they breaking any animal care laws that may be in place through humane societies or SPCA's?
The flowers are very pretty, I like it when businesses put some extra effort to beautify the ugly areas.

    1. The City has a leash law. The Police are monitoring the owners...this is not the first complaint. My Mother has many flower beds and she usually crawls around on the ground to weed them...that is a worry for me and Mom is scared of big dogs:(

  6. The wall flowers are really beautiful. So glad your dad had a shovel with him, as both of those dogs can be very dangerous. Not sure why anyone would want to own one, and then not keep them under control.

  7. The wall is lovely and yes, stupid people are not entitled to have dogs OR children! Sadly it will end up being the dogs that pay the ultimate price because the owners are idiots!

  9. Gorgeous flower wall! That must have been frightening for your father! Some people don't deserve to own dogs when they're so cruel to them.

  10. Barney and I crossed two people with their rottweiler while walking late evening. I doubt the guy was bad but he certainly seemed very aggressive in our direction. I yanked my dog off the road onto the sidewalk as soon as I could and I tried to keep Barney from doing something stupid. Your dad does not need to be bothered with things like that when he is outside.

  12. Beautiful flowers. Too much work for me.

I'm glad your dad is okay. There are a lot of bad pet owners.

  13. Kudos to Ace for making the beautiful wall of flowers. It's my favorite store because of the way they meet you inside the door and offer help. I've come in with some strange requests for fixing things and they always come through. You know,🎶🎶 "Ace is the Place ... With the helpful hardware man!" 🎶🎶

  15. Beautiful flowers and I love Ace Hardware too.
I am very sorry about your dad being threatened by the dogs. Nothing makes me madder than stupid dog owners. If you remember, we had to MOVE from our last (one year old) house because the neighbors refused to obey the Police or Animal Control re their 2 pit bulls.

  16. Pretty wall of flowers ! Yes unfortunately there are a lot of stupid pet owners out there it makes me sick ! Good to hear your parents enjoy fun games of Yahtzee I haven't played that in years . Oh they have a computer and printer well that's awesome good for them . Glad the dogs backed off from your dad a good blow with the shovel would work to all though I would do it to the owners as it is their fault to begin with not the dogs but unfortunately it is the animals that pay for the idiot owners stupidity , Thanks for sharing , Have a good day !

  17. Oh gosh! The dogs would have scared me to death even if I had a shovel. I like Ace, too. I never have to go further than the front door and they take it from there. Great service. I TOTALLY get the need for the printer! I have printed my share of Yahtzee score sheets too.

  18. What a lovely wall of flowers! How peaceful it looks. I believe I just could amble on over, across the street, to that Dairy Queen and have a seat and enjoy the view...

  20. Years ago I owned a dog. He was as soft as anything with people but hated other dogs. I always kept him on a short lead when we went walking. One day someone walking their dog off the lead was coming towards me and their dog approached. I called him to keep his dog away but all he said was. it's OK, he's friendly. Of course there was a fight - that my dog won. The other guy yelled at me for not controlling my dog! I have cats now. It's easier.
    Gorgeous flowers.
