Flip Flops and other things

Did you know today is National Flip Flop Day?  Well it is.  I have never been able to wear flip flops the thingy that goes between your toes makes me queasy and faint every time I take a step….needless to say it ain’t a pretty site.  I wonder when they will have a Crocs day?

Speaking of Flip Flops when I was in the hospital I saw those Hillary Interviews…she is a piece of work.  Broke you say?  Her idea of broke and mine would vary by millions of dollars.   She is all about forgiveness…ya sure you betcha.  I woulda kicked Willy to the curb years ago…the lying cheating crook.  I  can’t see how in the world she is even thinking of running for President. If she were running against the devil himself I am not sure I could in good conscience vote for her.  Enough Politics…it just raises my blood pressure.

Obama visiting an Indian Reservation was a real joke…we have one nearby and he should visit there…without weeks of warnings and preparation and see what conditions are really like.  When he mentioned Obamacare was there for them I saw red…the Tribe takes care of all of their medical bills.  Not only that they can go to school and become Doctors and Lawyers…but few go.  They only worry about one day at a time…Do we have enough beer and drugs for today?   Meth use is rampant on and off the nearby reservation.  Tribal Police do their best…but no one spends much time in jail.  We need some hanging judges.

Yes I am feeling a tad cranky.  It just keeps on raining. I need me some sunshine!

Happy New Year!

Can you believe it?  We are on the precipice of another year..all the talk about fiscal cliffs and who said or thought what..the whole lot of them should be run out of Washington DC if you ask me..do your job for goodness sake.  Most people get paid for a job that they do..not for a job they didn’t do.  Sometimes the world is ass backwards.   I am about ready to go on a news blackout again. Buggers.

Yes, my panties are in a bunch..buggers.

I ran onto a quote that says it all for me this New Years Day.

I am not sure who Pearl Aman is..some elusive chick..with good quotes.

Begin another new chapter and remember that you have 365 days to make every page of the chapter worth remembering when you finish the year. - Pearl Aman

So what can I do?

I decided I am not making any resolutions…but I am going to set some goals.

Goal One: De clutter, get rid of some things that I just don’t need anymore.  If I have not used something in the past year..possibly I can get rid of it, sell it or donate it.

Goal Two: Organize..organize..organize.  I have many projects to tackle….I won’t get them all done this winter.

Goal Three: Lollygag..yes lollygag. Stop and smell the roses..chill out..veg on the couch..you get the drift.  After all..I will remember the times I lollygagged..I am sure of it!

Three goals are enough for me.. I wouldn’t want to over do.

We went to the neighbors for New Years Eve..we were home by 10 PM and will most likely be asleep by midnight, we are real party animals:)

Going to the Dogs

I heard of a new program that  the local Veterans Service Officer is becoming involved with.   Dogs for Veterans with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.  The dog is obedience trained, and afterwards goes through a short amount of specialized training.  The dog blocks people from approaching a Veteran from the back.  The dog will lay right on top of the Veterans feet if the Veteran is getting nervous and stressed out.

Those of us with pets, either dogs or cats know how great they are as stress relievers.

Far Guy asked me to take photographs of all these military patches last weekend on one of the Eagle Staffs at the Pow Wow.

Do you see the PTSD patch?  It says P.T.S.D.  ALL WOUNDS ARE NOT VISIBLE.

I see no end to our Military involvement in other countries.  It seems to me that we police the world. It is not fair that our best and brightest young men and women go to war.   Send in some of those fancy talking politicians from Washington DC for awhile:)

Vote

Just a reminder to vote today. It probably won’t make a difference..but I am not voting for any of the incumbents. They are not doing a very good job..in my opinion.

Here in Minnesota we have non choices for Governor so I will write my own name in.  Take that. The State would be lucky to get a non millionaire that knows how to balance something.

Politics and World News used to be one of my favorite subjects. Now I find that the news just tends to make me crabby, especially political news..so I watch the watered down news of The Today Show. The only slightly interesting political news in my opinion is California’s Proposition 19..will that State be going to pot or not?

Political commercials that poison our airwaves with back stabbing and false innuendo that always end with “I am so and so and I approve this message” really make my blood boil.

I hate that the phone rings off the hook with polls and reminders to vote..they even sent me emails for the first time ever..some low life must have sold my email address to them.  If I could catch that dirty bugger I would tell him or her a thing or two.

I also shudder when I shred the political garbage mail when I think of all the paper that could have been saved..but I do gain some strange euphoric feeling from the power I have over the mail.. go vote:)

Clunkers

I only know of one person that has taken advantage of the "Cash for Clunkers" stimulus program. That would be my Dad, he was driving a pickup truck that was 17 years old. I always gave him a bad time and told him that he needed a new truck, a four wheel drive.. he always said "Can't afford a new truck, do you have any idea how much they cost?" I don't pay attention to vehicle prices, I stopped keeping up with that info when vehicle prices went beyond what we paid for our first house. I do feel a bit slighted, I drove the same vehicle for 20 some years..and there were no hand outs when I bought a new to me used vehicle a few years ago. I am happy for my Dad, and others who were able to improve their vehicles MPG, Dad says his is supposed to get 24 MPG... and if he drives this vehicle for seventeen years like his last truck he will be 100 years old. When I was oohing and ahhing over his new vehicle he told me to take it for a spin.. one look over the top of the massive hood..it was way too large for me to drive..I did sit in the drivers seat a really long time to enjoy the new truck smell! It still isn't a four wheel drive, I guess he will just stay at home when the weather is bad.

Who is paying for all this stimulus? When will the Washington Money Machine go broke? Another 2 Billion dollars went into the cash for clunkers program this morning.. apparently they print what money they need or borrow it from China. Payback is a real bitch..and it is not our generation that will pay..but our children and their children. I detest the thought that everyone is so careless, and believes that every problem can be solved by throwing money at it. When did we become a nation so involved in the Auto Industry? I suppose that happened after the demise of the Family Farm..it takes awhile for the government to become involved and totally ruin something. I believe that Health Care will be next, and since it is the only sector that has been increasing it's employees instead of laying them off..it must seem ripe for the picking for our leaders in Washington. I can name a few Clunkers in Washington that I would like to stimulate, a few old clunkers that have worn out their welcome, I hope their constituents feel the same way:)
