Greats!

I stole some photos from Maddies facebook page.

Here is the little princess Cee Cee...I hope her Mom revisits this photo when Cee Cee is a teenager!

Seems Hey Mikey likes his sister but is quickly over her and off to do something else...typical two almost three year old.

We wish they lived closer so we could help spoil them rotten!

I  talked to Maddie last evening, she says the baby is really good and Hey Mikey is helpful  most of the time.

Oh Baby!

We are thrilled to be Great Grandparents again!

Cee Cee made her appearance very late on March 10th.   It was just 7 minutes til midnight when she entered the world.   Who was there:  her Mom of course and her Dad and the usual medical staff.

She weighed in at 6 pounds and 15 ounces and is 19 inches long.  Look at that hair!

All dressed up!  Photos are from Maddies Facebook page.

Her hair sticks straight up just like her Mamas did when she was born.  She looks quite a bit like her Mama too!

Her real name is not Cee Cee but that is what I am calling her.  She will join her big brother Hey Mikey at home later today...then the fun will begin!

We are excited to hear more about her as she grows!  She lives in Michigan and we are not sure when we will get to see her....we love her already!

Maddie : Growing Family

Maddie and Brenton and Hey Mikey are getting an addition to their family.

Hey Mikey may not be as happy when the new baby arrives.  For now he is two years and nine months old...and life is good.  That is all about to change!

New baby Cee Cee will be here in about 11 days...we are excited it will be wonderful to be Great again!  Great Grandpa and Great Grandma that is.

Jen took these photos.  I wasn't able to go up North for the photo shoot because Far Guy was ill.  So I shamelessly stole them for Maddie's facebook page.

Expecting

We are expecting to be blessed with another Great Grandchild.

Hey Mikey is getting a sister...I will call her Cee Cee.
Maddie and Noah...cousins.   It made Noah smile when I asked Maddie for a belly shot!

Baby Cee Cee will arrive in mid March.
I have already done some shopping for her and I have the supplies for a blanket.  I am excited...but Michigan is so far away...we won't be able to spoil her very much!

Hey Mikey!

Mikey our Great Grandson is almost six months old.

Hey Mikey Nov 11 2017

We got to see him on Saturday.  He has quite a personality, he smiles and tries to talk ( according to his Mother he can squeal.)  I call it finding his voice!

Jen and Mikey

Mikey looks very much like his Mother, they have the same shape face, same little nose and dark brown eyes.

Maddie 1998 Two

I gave her the usual Great Grandmotherly advice.  Keep a hat on that baby in the hockey arena.  Put an undershirt on him all winter long…she said “a onesie?”  Yes…he can wear two onsies in the winter.  Babies need that extra layer of clothing.  I explained before onsies…all baby undershirts had a tab that you could pin down with the cloth diaper…and that kept it from riding up.  I had both short sleeved and long sleeved undershirts for my girls.

Heck I wore an undershirt in the wintertime until I traded it for a bra and then wondered if I should wear my undershirt over or under my bra.

Hey Mikey : 4 weeks old

We traveled North to see Mikey one afternoon last week.  He is four weeks old today, according to his sweet Mama he eats, sleeps, poops, pees and keeps her busy.  He weighs about ten pounds now.  He is almost out of newborn clothing and into the 0-3 months size.  Maddies says she thinks his legs are scrunched in the newborn size.

Hey Mikey

Hey Mikey you are 26 days old!

Far Guy and I both held him…he was a little fussy.  I put some socks on him and wrapped him up in a warm fuzzy blanket, he had the last ounce of a bottle, I was rewarded with a huge burp and he fell asleep.  In his sleep he smiled, but of course I didn’t get that on camera.

It has been my experience over the years that a warm baby is a happy sleepy baby.  With Jennifer I warmed her bassinet with a heating pad before I put her down to sleep. I often used those old fashioned kimonos that had flaps on the sleeve so that you could cover up their fingers. Socks were a must.  I know it is summer but babies just have a hard time regulating their body temperature if they are warm they stay warm but if they are cold they stay cold and cranky.

What fun to snuggle with this tiny baby boy.  Such a precious gift from God.

Wistful Wednesday: Generations

A long time ago…well 65 plus years ago I had a photograph taken.

Four Generations 1951

I am the baby along with my Mom, my maternal Grandfather and my Great Grandmother photo taken in 1952.

1972 Four generations Elsie Madeline Trica Connie

Then in 1972 another photo was taken.  My maternal Grandmother, my Mother holding Trica and me.

In 1996 Savannah was born.  Me, Trica with Savannah and my Mother.  This is a unique photo because it is of all the oldest daughters.  My Grandmother died in October of 1995 and Savannah was born in July of 1996.  So my Grandma just missed seeing her first Great  Great Grandchild by nine months.

Four generations Me, Trica, Savannah and Maddie and Madeline 1998

In 1998 we took another photo this time when Maddie was born. Me, Trica, Savannah, Maddie and my Mother.

Now it is 2017 and it was time for a five generations photo.

Hey Mikey

Ready to meet our first Great Grandson?  He is just perfect.

Mikey May 27

Mikey May27

oh so tired

He looks a bit like his Mother and a lot like himself. He is sleeping, growing, eating well and pooping so life is good for him.

I finished his blanket.  It is behind him in the first two photos.  It is a simple crochet blanket using Bernat yarn which is cuddly soft and washable.  Maddie reports that he likes his blankie already.

Far Guy says this baby makes us Great!

At any rate Mikey has a whole lot of people who love him!

Happy BIRTHday Mikey!

Our first Great Grandson entered this world safely early Friday morning after a long 20 hours of labor.

I was getting text messages from Great Auntie Jen and I was ready to call it a night when she said 20-30 more minutes.  Then the next message was “The Doctor is here and dressed….ready??”  I texted “push”

Jen sent this photo. Which I quickly took a photo of just incase I lost the photo on Far Guy’s phone.  ( me and phones do not get along)

Hey Mikey

I asked if he had ten fingers and ten toes and if he was crying…she replied yes.  It was the middle of the night so I went to sleep.

He weighed 7 pounds and 5 ounces and is 20 inches long.

We will be properly introduced later today or tomorrow and possibly I will take a few more photos!

I can hardly wait to say “Hey Mikey!”

Maddie: Baby belly and a ring

Our Granddaughter Maddie is engaged to be married a few years from now.  As I undertand it her beau put the ring over a game controller while she was out of the room…when she returned she discovered it and her beau went down on a knee and asked her to marry him.  So now she has a fiancé.

Maddies ring

As you probably know our first Great Grand will arrive this spring.

February 18 Maddie and Baby

26 weeks and 2 days

The baby is incubating quite nicely, but refused to kick for me.  Maddie very graciously let me feel of her belly.  I asked first…as I recall I didn’t want everyone touching my belly when I was pregnant.

I have had fun shopping and guessing what this baby will need.  I buy larger clothing.  I had a bag full that now grew into a small tote that is overflowing.  I have not started on the blanket yet either…I need to decide on a pattern and the yarn..blue.  There is a baby shower being planned.

I am looking forward to this bundle of joy…if he is as easy to care for as Maddie was as a baby then she has it made.  She didn’t thrive on breast milk, but did well on formula.  She like to eat and be burped and to be laid in her crib to go asleep all by herself…none of the snuggling with Grandma in a rocking chair for her…once you laid her in her crib and kissed her goodnight she would smile at you, turn her head and close her eyes…and in a minute or two she was fast asleep.

One time Far Guy was babysitting for the grand girls, it might have been when Paige was born.  Maddie was so fussy and he couldn’t figure out what she wanted, so he called me (I was home taking care of the Greenhouse)…I asked him what he fed her…green beans…fruit…some kind of chicken.  I told him to warm up another can of green beans and let her eat as many as she wanted… she started stuffing  them in her mouth with both hands…her Grandpa was amazed that she could eat so much. She stopped fussing after her tummy was full.  I told him how to put her to bed, kiss her goodnight and cover her with her blankie with the satin edge toward her face so she could grab the edge between her fingers.   He later reported to me that it worked just like magic.

Great Grandma

Great Grandma makes someone seem really, really old.

I will be a Great Grandmother in May and Far Guy will be a Great Grandfather.

We are now officially old.

Nope you didn’t miss anything…like a wedding.  Times change, old people’s views remain the same and the younger generation do their own thing.

Maddie and Brent

Maddie and Brent with Deacon

It is now official and was announced on Facebook.

Far Guy is dealing with the news a tad better than I am.  He confessed he thought he would never live long enough to see a Great Grandchild.

I on the other hand hoped that Maddie would get her degree, travel, see the world, grow older and wiser and then become a parent.

It is really hard being a parent now a days…and being a single parent is even harder. I suspect that with a wedding date in 2019 that this child will be old enough to be the Ring Bearer or the Flower Girl.
