Every spring, I wander a local cemetery with a group of people putting flags in all those holders by the graves of veterans. It is always a gratifying job to do.
It looks wonderful. When I received my father's , the information was incorrect. Spelling errors on their part. The local Veterans Services helped me get a new plaque. (I had to return the old one). Meanwhile, there was an issue with getting it installed. My husband studied up and did it himself.
It feels good to have the almost last thing in place. My dad was WWII. He was cremated and his ashes are in a niche at the Veterans Cemetery in St. Paul/Mpls. My mother is there, too as his spouse. It took a couple of years for your dad's gravestone to be placed.
It looks so nice. My dad's veteran marker was placed so quickly and was the only marker for over 3 years as I worked through issues with their big gravestone.
