I ran errands in town on my "day off" due to no ironing. I visited my parents, they are adjusting well and seem happy in their new apartment.
Far Guy cooked supper...hamburgers with bacon, corn and french fries. I laid on the couch with my feet up and was available as a consultant if need be.
Far Guy's sister was very sleepy and hardly awake at all yesterday. She did send a message to her brother via her husband that she loves him. She is not eating much at all anymore, a spoon of applesauce with her pills and a spoon of carrots. Very hard to see her go downhill. We hear that the Hospice nurses are very kind and good about helping out her husband, daughter and son in law as they all care for her at home.
We went for a ride down to the river to the area I call "dead beaver area."
It was a dreary evening we are supposed to get some more snow to make it look like a winter wonderland again...ain't that just peachy keen.
Far Side
A "day off" seems like a great idea. Think I need one. Far Guy's sister is in my daily prayers. More rain expected here today. Sure would like to start seeing some flowers.
ReplyDeleteIn a way that beaver dam is a beautiful place. It reminds me of nature just waiting for the right moment to spring to life.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad your parents are doing well at their apartment.
We’re having rain again. Spring where art thou.?
ReplyDeleteInteresting name choice for that area. I like the reflections and spots of red dogwood.
ReplyDeleteIt is so hard to watch a loved one's body shut down, slowly...{hugs}
I'm glad your parents are doing well in their new digs. The heat is still on here although there is no snow just storm warnings all the time. I love a good storm but no tornadoes. It is not easy watching a loved one die. At least she can still communicate. Snow is a good coverup as long as it's not going to be Spring yet it might as well snow. It has been a pretty dreary Winter here too. Your dinner sounded delish.
ReplyDeleteThe constant grey, cloudy and windy days are weighing me down. I'm sure the endless snow is doing the same for you. Your parents are probably enjoying fewer "house" responsibilities, and maybe having other people around to visit with.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry about the bad news. But it is nice to have a husband who cooks.
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts go out to Far Guy's family. I know it is not an easy time.
ReplyDeleteYour day sounds very good, visit with family, some time outdoors, and someone else made dinner. :)
A man in the kitchen... always makes me happy to hear about! :) I'm still praying for Far Guy's sister, poor soul. I wish all the good folks could live forever. May your snow melt quickly. ~Andrea xoxo
ReplyDeleteI’m more than ready for some Spring weather, but it just isn’t happening. Hospice is a blessing for the patient and the family.
ReplyDeleteGod Bless You All. But, no more snow!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear your parents are happy in their new home. Good for FG for cooking for you.
ReplyDeleteThere's a lovely new hospice about 3 blocks from us. DH has visited friends there and has said how lovely the staff are. I did not know that hospice care at home was ever available. I wonder if we have access to that. I hope when my time comes that I can stay right here in my home.
ReplyDeleteI'm keeping Far Guy's sister in my prayers. I watched my mother and brother go downhill from cancer and it is one of the most difficult things to do. Sending hugs and love.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry for you all. It is a terrible to watch a loved one decline. It's been raining all day, very miserable day. It's good your parents have comfortably settled into their new home, what a relief that must be. We got our second booster today, so far I feel fine.
ReplyDeleteIt is tough news and good news. It is amazing having supports for your SIL.
ReplyDeleteErrands aren't exactly a day off but they have to be done.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you were able to see your parents and that they are settling in well. I would love to move into an "over 55" apartment so there would be less upkeep but Mom won't budge. She is getting more confused as the days go by so I'm not sure how long things will stay as they are. She is fussing about us going to see the new baby next week until I'm ready to stay home and send Dennis on his own. She's afraid for us to leave.
ReplyDeleteMy prayers are still with Far Guys family and his sister especially. Hospice is a wonderful thing. They were so good to us when Dennis's Dad passed away from cancer.
Take care stay warm. We had rain all day and cold temps but Friday is supposed to be 90F!!! What is going on this year?
Blessings,
Betsy
Your supper sounds good! How nice to have a husband that will make supper! Praying for far guy's sister. Glad you could put your feet up for a bit!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your SIL slipping away like that. It's hard but I'm glad she is being well taken care of.
ReplyDeleteHospice is such a blessing, so helpful to us when we were going through this with husband's dad. My aunt will be having them too, when she's ready. They are wonderful. I'm so sorry, though, that you are having to watch her decline. It's hard. So much love in your family, hold each other tight. I know you will.
ReplyDeletePrayers going out for all of Far Guy's family and Far Guy.
ReplyDeleteIt's very hard to keep a positive attitude when loved ones are not faring well, and a dreary weather on top of it doesn't help.
ReplyDeleteI am so absolutely sorry that Far Guy's sister's health is declining. You know all of you are lifted daily in prayer here. Hospice is a wonderful blessings -- I was so glad to have it for my dad back in 2012. Thinking of you and sending big hugs, my friend.
ReplyDeleteGlad your parents are settling in to their new place well.
