Jen went shopping for me on Friday. She picked up my new camera and delivered it on Saturday night. She knows I hate to shop..so it was much less painful just to have her shop for me! It is a Canon Rebel T4i. I bought three lenses a somewhat everyday one, a macro and a telephoto. I also bought a proper camera case.
In the end I decided to get the same camera as Jen. That way I can learn from her..her younger, smarter brain will grasp this new adventure in photography before me. Besides I can ask her questions and she won’t think I am stupid..or if she does she won’t say anything.
My old Canon is still working ( as you can see by the photo above).
The museum does not have a camera and I photograph all the accessions…so until my old Canon gives up the ghost it will still be used. It will be my go to work everyday camera.
So far I am trying to get used to some of the settings. I need lots of practice and I need to find time to read the manual.
Chance is a semi willing subject.
There are a few roses in bloom.
Practice makes perfect.. you are never too old to learn something new..right?:)
Lucky you! Have fun with it. I used to get the same phone as my daughter so she could teach me how to use it. Can't wait to see more beautiful pictures.
ReplyDeleteWell, this is the DSLR I considered getting, too. I think I'll learn from YOU if it is the right one or not. Beautiful first pictures, I must say.
ReplyDeleteGood for you! The older I get the more I detest learning new things! It will be nice to learn along with Jen. This is a cute pic of Chance - he is attentive to something!
ReplyDeleteSo far I think you are doing a good job with your new camera. The pictures are very good. They always say, "you are never too old to learn something new". However, I think it takes a lot longer to learn it as my old brain just doesn't like change.
ReplyDeleteHave fun with your new camera. I think you are getting the hang of it as the pic of Chance and the roses is very good.
ReplyDeleteAh you did get one, and good for you. What a great idea getting the same one as your daughter, I think some parts of the new DSLR's are hard at any age. Great shots, do you absolutely love it? Living vicariously through your new purchase...

Good photos! You are lucky to have a daughter so close. Daughters who live across the country are loved, but not helpful! I'm sure Chance will do his part to help you learn. I agree that after a certain point, it's hard to learn new things, but YOU aren't at that point yet, so go get 'em!
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome ! I don't like shopping either but when it comes to camera equipment that's the only shopping I do really like lol ! I have had a digital camera for some time now and still don't know all the settings and neither does Papa on his digital camera and he has had his longer ! I find the best way that I am learning my camera is trial and error , For my camera I found that the internet was more helpful then the manual ! Have fun with it , your photos are awesome ! Have a great day !
ReplyDeleteOH, congrats on the new camera! I don't know anything about the Rebel - hope you enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking of upgrading my Canon soon.
What fun you will have with the new camera. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteOh, wow! How very cool. I can just imagine the fun you are going to have playing with all of the settings.
ReplyDeleteYou are going to have some fun with that camera! We can still learn new things, but you are right, it just takes us longer:(
ReplyDeleteOoooh - congratulations! Lovely new camera for taking your beautiful flower photos, and the handsome Chance of course :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure this is learning something new. You seem to be getting the hang of it. I'd say you've put in quite a bit of practice already. This is a bit more like a driver switching to a new car :)
ReplyDeleteHow very cool for you!!! YEA!!!!!

How fun for you! Practice, practice, practice then remember, remember, remember! Have fun and maybe I will run into you when we both are out and about..
ReplyDeleteIsn't learning newfangled stuff supposed to keep our brains from crashing? LOL! ;)
ReplyDeleteGood luck! Keep playing with it. I think it was an exceedingly smart idea to have the same camera as Jen so you can ask questions of someone who can only make so much fun of you. That's why I have Dagan and Leah's old camera. ;)
Nice camera. Sometimes those lenses cost more that the camera itself.
ReplyDeleteThat is a VERY nice camera, and you will put it to good use.
ReplyDeleteWoohoo! You'll love it!
ReplyDeleteYou will love the new camera and have fun learning all the new "stuff"!
ReplyDeleteGood for you to get a new camera. It's important that "old ladies " get new stuff to puzzle their brains. It's what keeps you going and you forget about aches and pains.
ReplyDeleteI have one just like it, you will love it !!
ReplyDeleteBlessings and happy photoing
I think you did great with the last couple of pics. When the one of Chance is enlarged, you can just about see each individual piece of his fur! Learning new things is good - - - supposed to keep us from getting Alzheimer's
ReplyDeleteNow that's the Cadillac of cameras!!! I'm not sure I could handle that much technology. You seem to be doing a great job with it. The pictures are great.
ReplyDeleteI just got new glasses and your camera looks like it has just got a very clear view. I don't remember seeing those markings on Chance before now. Maybe he doesn't let you take shots of his right side. We spent last week with a terrible outbreak of fleas on both dogs. What a nightmare that was.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the new camera! Let me know how it goes although I thought your pictures with your old one were beautiful. Is Chance's picture on your banner from your new camera? I have to say that is one gorgeous photo of him! I need to learn how to take better pictures and maybe one day get a nicer camera too. Good luck and have fun!
