Critters in the woods

The trail cam caught the Impatiens eaters... She has red flowers hanging out of her mouth.  Most likely teaching the fawn about them.

We are taking in the bird and suet feeder at night.   We leave the humming bird feeder out because the Hummers are early risers and the bear has not bothered that feeder.

HOWEVER the bear is still in the area.

This is my other baby brothers trail cam...

Not exactly a cuddy little cub...I suppose we have a resident bear.   I have seen where he has moved logs to get at ant hills...I look for him in the day time sleeping up in the trees but haven't spotted him yet...there are lots of woods for him to stay hidden in.

Annie went home yesterday...she never did catch that Chipmunk.

Rain and Visitors

We got rain finally.  1 and 4/10 inches.   It was wonderful, it is our first real rain this spring/summer.

It refreshed the earth, flowers, us and apparently a bear.  Our temperatures took a nose dive it was 39 F Monday morning.  The high Monday was 60 F....cool...and I liked it!

Our feeders were down early Monday morning.  Apparently it was quite a large bear.

Last night I took down the humming bird feeder and suet feeder and brought them inside.  We did not get the bear on the trail cam.  It apparently came in from the North and left going North.

However I did catch these two coming in late one night this weekend. I wonder where the bear was then??

Trail Cam: Birds

We unloaded the trail cam again, it is fun to see what visits our yard.

We have been seeing flashes of blue and thought we might have a pair of Bluebirds and now we have proof.

They like the bird bath.

From the camera the Coon visits nightly after 11:30 PM. The Fox was an early morning just before daylight visitor and the Deer are early mornings. The Deer didn’t eat my flowers…yet.  We think they drank the water in the bird bath.

This is only one area of our yard I wonder what is happening in the rest of the yard?

Trail Cam in April

We finally caught a deer on our Trail Cam!  It visited in the early morning….probably was at the bird feeders.  During April the Trail Cam photographed the UPS driver many times along with the mail man.  Odda came to visit four different days. Various other company was observed coming and going…lots of photos of Chance too.

Trail cam deer April 2018

Deer are a real nuisance this time of year, they are hungry and will have their young in a month…they are coming to the road ditches to graze night and day…and many end up as road kill.  I had a close call the other day luckily I wasn’t driving too fast and was able to give the deer a brake.

Trail Cams

Trail Cams, gotta love em! My brother has one, recently he shared some of his photos with us. These are not high quality photos..and since we live in the "boonies" ..what he got was deer..many deer, little ones and some big ones. Interesting!

I told Far Guy hey if we got one of those cams we could put it outside of the house and use it as a security cam. Well someone in the area put one out in his yard, and he captured on film someone stealing his NObama sign. The individual is demanding an apology of sorts ..or he will publish the picture of the smiling political sign thief on a website. A picture is worth a thousand words..public embarrassment is worth what ..a political sign? This may be a coming trend..these very portable trail cams could have many uses. Think about it..I want to put one up in the yard..a security cam, I will know who comes and goes, I will know if Chance chases a rabbit, I will know how many deer, bobcat, turkeys and other wild creatures come through! Big Brother has landed in the boonies. Ain't technology great!

I suppose the next big thing will be the signs "Caution.. Trail Cam In Use" might make a few trespassers sit up and take notice. Do you ever smile and wave at the sign that says Video Surveillance Camera in Use.. I do, those tapes must be really boring to preview. Do you ever wonder when the light turns yellow at an intersection if that was the one lousy intersection that has a cam that will record your license plate number, time of day and your picture.. and you will get some kind of citation in the mail?

I see many practical uses for a trail cam ..got a great looking daughter, dating a new guy..do they spend lots of time on the front porch? What are they doing..Trail cam them! Wondering who is picking all your flowers in that front flowerbed..Trail Cam them! Wondering which neighbors are letting their dog poop in your yard..Trail Cam them! Wondering if your spouse is receiving "visitors" while you are at work..Trail Cam! Everyone can have a button or a bumper sticker that says "I Trail Cam..Do you?" I can see it already..a brand new Television show...Caught on Trail Cam..with your host Wolf Blitzer in the trail cam editing room..with the huge screen behind him ready to reveal all the bizarre happenings of the day.. all caught on a trail cam:)
