Very Late Lilac
As I walked the outer circle looking at various plants...I was suddenly transported back to Spring or at least early Summer.
The sweet smell of Lilacs filled the air. I think this may be a Miss Kim Lilac...who really knows for sure, I wondered why it was so late blooming. ...but I enjoyed it anyway.
After my stroll in the rain I drove over to the Lake.
Spirit Lake ...it was a gloomy rainy morning.
Then it was time to get my teeth cleaned and an exam. " No cavities but remember you can have that wisdom tooth that is sensitive to cold removed anytime."
Far Guy didn't have any cavities either...but has part of an old wisdom tooth that was not removed sometime long ago....it needs to come out sometime.
Two Dental Appointments accomplished and a loaf of flatbread was purchased from the Bakery.
( probably the best little bakery in our area.)

Trip to the Dentist
Gosh I hate going to the Dentist, but I am done again for six months. Far Guy is not so lucky, he is scheduled for Oral Surgery, he has a wisdom tooth coming in sideways and a fistula. (Left over from a root amputation or a wayward bone fragment.) He is not crazy, many times over the past few years he has said “Something is not right up there in my mouth.” Well he was right and not crazy..the X Rays prove it. He doesn’t get the famous Olympian Hockey playing Baker this time but another fellow. I will let you know when it is over. I have asked that they gel foam the incision and stitch him up to try to avoid a dry socket..we will see. He has asked for Nitrous. This is his last Wisdom Tooth…he should have had them all removed at once when he was younger…he had two done at once and swore never again…well never again is on round two.
We go to a further away little town to the Dentist. He is a Finnish lad. His wife who shoulda been a Dentist is the hygienist. We schedule our appointments back to back, since it is a 40 minute drive over there.
Chance and I went wandering about town and the immediate area while Far Guy was in the chair.
We stopped by St. Urho and then headed out to the forest fire area.
This area burned last summer. It was part of the Green Valley Forest Fire.
Sad to see wide open spaces that used to be filled with pine trees. There are huge piles of brush and some wood is being chipped into small pieces. What logs could be salvaged are long gone.
I found this great bunch of Halloween decorations. Someone has the Halloween spirit!
While I was in the chair Far Guy and Chance went to visit a classmate of his who is in assisted living. He has a memory problem that was induced by overindulgence in alcohol following the death of his girlfriend. He can remember everything in the distant past, but cannot remember if he ate today or who visited him. He always remembers Far Guy. I am not sure how much company he gets…but if he cannot remember does it really matter:(

Two Highlights and a Non Highlight
Well another week down the tubes..a couple of fun things happened this week. Far Guy and I went to the “Rez Parade” last Sunday. We took Chance and parked near the Church and sat in the car until the parade started. Before anyone calls me racist..the Native Americans call it a Rez parade themselves. The highlight?
This photo, how many people have a photo of the cops throwing candy at them.
Tuesday we went up to Jen and Andy's, their house is coming along…I am waiting for her to share before and after photos on her blog. She made the move over from Area Voices to Blogspot..so now she is easier to find. Her blog is called East Side Professor. If she were not enamored with the English language and teaching she would have made a great Interior Decorator. We went along with Noah to his guitar lesson, and then we all went out for supper. The highlight?
This photo, I had to bump it up a bit in Photoshop..but I finally got one of the photos that is on my bucket list..a Rainbow!! The blooming Flax field, Lightening and a baby Buffalo still remain on the photo bucket list. We have had lots of rain this summer, and we have seen a few rainbows..but they either disappear before we get to a safe spot where we can photograph them or are so puny they don’t show up in a photo. ..this one I just took out of the window on our way back from town.
The non highlight this week was a Dental Checkup and Cleaning where it was discovered that I have not just one abscess but two ( sometimes I am just an over achiever) and I will undergo two root canals on Monday morning..the infections have been treated with four doses of various antibiotics over the past six months. I told the Dentist to just pull them both out, he said he wants to try to save them..especially the one that shows when I smile..I told him that I am a cranky old woman and rarely smile anyway:(

Lost Teeth at Lunch
There were two sisters, one much younger than the other. The youngest sister, had no patience with the eldest sister. The eldest was in a wheelchair, she was a resident of the nearby nursing home. First they told their story to the receptionist, she was sympathetic, and said she would talk to Chuck.
Apparently her dental appliance that costs thousands of dollars was lost during lunch. ( This was a elderly scandinavian woman, so thousands comes out sounding like towsands.) When they cannot find your teeth, even after they went through all the garbage in the entire nursing home. (Towsands of dollars in the garbage.) They call your sister, and it becomes her not so happy problem. She hauls your butt over to the Dentist office even if you are miserable with a sore mouth and in a wheelchair with a broken arm in a cast because you recently fell down.
The elderly lady went through the entire process of showing Chuck right there in the waiting room exactly what the problem was. She opened her mouth really wide and pointed to the problem. She was a bit hard to understand while talking with her fingers in her mouth. Her sister tried to explain the problem to Chuck. But her mouth was dry, so she couldn't talk real well either. Finally she said " What did you say, I am now listening with both ears?" Chuck was patient and explained again that he would have a look and possibly he could do something temporary so her sisters mouth wouldn't hurt so much. Chuck smiled and winked at me as he wheeled his patient back to the exam room. He has the patience of a saint..or maybe he just goes home at night and bangs his head against the wall. I think I finally understand why he only is in his office four days a week. I used to think it was because he loved to hunt, fish and snowmobile..now I realize it is so he can keep his sanity:)
