Wednesday happenings

I had lunch with Susie a very old friend from a long time ago when we both had small children.   It was good to catch up and give her a hug.  Life throws us curve balls from time to time and it is good to have a friend that you can call anytime night or day.  Anyways we had a great visit with lots of giggles!   It was a girls lunch out as her husband was busy and Far Guy wanted to get some woodcarving time in before the smoke from the Northern Minnesota Wildfires  invaded our area.

Our Niece Rachael and family left Ely Minnesota when the smoke got heavy and ash began to fall out of the sky.  Pray for rain, a good soaking rain!

Our nephew Jacob and family are here for the summer from Japan.

Henry is four driving the green car...assisted by his Dad, Jacob.

What's Cooking?  Nothing...I brought home a burger for Far Guy from the lunch place.

Minnesota Weather:  High 86F or 30C      Low 66F or 19C We have an air quality alert until Friday.

  1. Oh, I hope you get a good rain soon. Fleta’s grandson had to evacuate in Colorado. Fires were in miles of their house. He brought his wife and two children to Fleta ‘s. They’re staying in the old house we grew up in where Helen lived. He returned as he is in the army. Hopefully, Colorado will get rain too.

I bet the young man enjoyed the race and Jacob probably loved it more.

Lunch with your friend was a nice break. Not cooking would be the dessert for me!

  2. I saw on the news this morning that the smoke is causing really bad air quality for most of Minnesota, and lots of other places. How awful for everyone but especially those with breathing issues like FG. Getting together with old friends is a gift isn't it?

  4. What a full day, and such a lovely one in spite of the smoke. Lunch with Susie sounds like just the kind of visit that fills your heart — old friends truly are treasures. I’m glad Jacob and his family made it safely, and little Henry driving the green car made me smile. Hoping hard for that good, soaking rain you need and for clearer skies soon.

  5. The smoke it us today. My daughter's family postponed vacation and we are digging out masks. Everything outdoors is cancelled and visibility is terrible. I could hardly walk from my house to my car without gagging. I feel so awful for workers and firefighters.

  6. Glad you had a fun friends lunch.
We were ar a Farmers Market this morning when the sky opened up and lightning cracked over our heads and thunder rumbled. We took shelter. that's the first rain we've had in a month and it made a statement!

  7. It is great to meet and have lunch with old friends and it's so nice when the friendship is where you can pick up right where you were when you last saw each other and go on with the giggles. Smart thing in bringing dinner home... So sorry for all the smoke...our grands in Colorado are dealing with a lot of smoke....hard on the lungs and especially difficult when one has lung issues... y'all take care

  9. We surely do need rain here too. Our air quality index is off the charts from the fires in Minnesota and Canada. Sure hope the wind changes direction soon. So awful. Thinking of you guys and hope you're doing ok.
