Waking up

Our woods is slowly waking up.  The trees and bushes have had a long Winter's nap.

The Thornapple is awake.  You can see the thorns...it is a nasty shrub.

Far Guy has been doing some woodcarving...he finally came inside and grabbed a bunch of bandaids and told me not to pay attention to the blood spatters on the patio.

I am playing with paper and doing misc stuff that never shows up anyplace.

I finally got confirmation from Gethsemane Lutheran Church that doesn't have a cemetery and they were cooperative and were also going to contact the Find A Grave Community to delete the cemetery.   Everyone not familiar with the area thinks the cemetery belongs to the Church because it is across the road...it was not always that way...they had a small Church right in the heart of downtown Snellman where they used to have a smelly old smelt fry every Spring...I can say the ladies made some great pies.  Anyways they raised all the money and members all helped to have the Church built on the outskirts of town on the hillside across the highway from cemetery aptly named The Snellman Cemetery.

Minnesota weather: Windy...a chilly wind like after it hails.   High 58 F or 14C  Low was 39F or 4C.  It is supposed to rain the next few days....we and the woods need the moisture.

What's Cooking: Leftover Calzones...cook once and eat twice:)

  1. Snell, smell, smelt...good job getting history records corrected.

  2. I love watching the transformation of our land when spring arrives. Even in Florida the rebirth is evident, but certainly not as striking as what you enjoy.

  3. I should not have giggled at your husband's comments but it was funny the way he told you he cut himself - - hopefully it was not too bad. Sometimes it takes a few tries for our hands to get muscle memory back. Also sometimes our hands don't do what we tell them as I have learned lately. Grrrrrr
Good for you on the research and getting records right. Interesting bit of history, too.

  5. I love your glitter ball---what are you going to do with it? I also thank you for fixing the FIND a Grave thing. I've used Find a Grave a few times and sometimes it is just plain wrong.

  6. I love to play with paper, Connie! I hope your man is okay - at least some band aids fixed him up.

  7. I'm guessing Far Guy's wasn't too deep or you might have yelled at him. :)
Local knowledge is good to have. Too many people make assumptions without doing the proper research.

  8. Hope FG got the bleeding stopped!

The world coming alive is invigorating for a while! You realize all the summer work that the growth creates. I still prefer it to ice and snow!

I dislike it when someone adds a picture to find a grave site and it’s not the right person. If I correct they often say…I just wanted a picture! I think…of the wrong person!

  10. The history you update is a great thing for people doing genealogy research. My best friend has used Find a Grave many time and has traced her family back to William the Conqueror.
I hope Far Guy's wound isn't too bad. Ignore the blood splatters! That's something Dennis would say to me. Ha!
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy
