For the birds

We have a pair of nesting Robins they are really busy in the yard gathering for their young!  We also have a pair of Bluebirds that are going in and out of one of the many boxes available to them.

Far Guy is putting a few seeds out for the Chick a dees and the Nuthatches...he repurposed an old metal bird bath into a feeder that the squirrels seem to like.  Hopefully the bear will stay away.

We had a horrid dust storm Thursday...you could just feel the grit in the air.

Having a bad RA flare at the moment...my husband takes good care of me.

What's cooking: Chicken Enchiladas from the freezer:)

Minnesota weather: High 76F or 24C  Low was 51F or 11C.  We are in an Air Quality Alert, Fire Watch and Red Flag Warning.

  1. Bird watching is an interesting hobby for all ages. We just found a nest that used strings to build with.

  2. So very sorry about the RA flare. That little bird pic is a good depiction of aging for us all. Some suffer more than others as our years increase. I hate you have to be one of them.
Very thankful once more for your freezer food!!!

  3. I've had a few bluebird couples check out our nesting box and spend some time there but none have started a family there yet. I'm still hopeful.

  4. We have so many set backs to what we want and need to do. It’s discouraging but to give up is not an option.

Glad you have some bird neighbors. I have lots of Blue birds. They love the bird bath when the temp gets above 80. I try to refresh the water daily.

  5. All I can say is "me too". Not fun trying to do stuff with pain. Feel better.

  6. You are lucky to have nesting birds where you can watch. It's so much fun to see the youngsters when they are learning to fly. We have a large metal/composite disc on a 4x4 that serves as a bird/squirrel feeder.

  7. We've had robins nesting on top of the light fixtures on our front porch nearly every year. This year they set up housekeeping in the nearby corner where the porch and house rooflines meet. I can hear their noisy chirping over our porch doorbell security camera. LOL

  9. Sorry to hear you're have a flare up - I hope it eases soon. In the meantime, I'm glad Far Guy is taking good care of you.
The winds were high here yesterday and we lost power for about an hour. I understand the highways had low visibility due to dust off the farmer's fields.

  13. We have escaped for a few days to Whidbey Island where we don't plan to do much gardening. The weather is cold and blustery, conducive to couch sitting.
We don't have what you have, thank goodness, but our old bodies are tired and need a rest.

  14. I'm sorry to read about your flare up. You both take good care of each other and that's how it should be. It sounds like spring has sprung in your yard with all of the birds and squirrels, etc. I've been watching a pair of robins in the tree outside our balcony but haven't see evidence of eggs.
We had winds of 45-50 mph most of yesterday. Silly me had all of the windows open because it was in the 70's. Today I had to vacuum and dust everything. Today it's 94F. But only for one day. A cool down is supposed to come.
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy

  15. So sorry you have a RA flare up. It does help a lot to have someone to care for you. I have RA & have just had a peripheral nerve biopsy to finf out the cause of my peripheral nerve damage. Take care & hope you enjoy the lovely birds. We are in Autumn now & already its cold & wet here.
