Book Club 2026: April

We read a Stephen King book called Revival.

I give the book a 7 out of 10.   Usually he writes better and has you wondering and on the edge of your seat...not his time.  I guess I expected more.

Most of the gals felt the same way...a little disappointed.

  1. I read most of King's earlier books, but not recently. Maybe I won't give this one a try, either. Thanks! I'm reading "The Bookclub for Troublesome Women" by Marie Bostwick - lots of fun (at least so far) and I'm listening to "The Five Wishes of Mr. Murray McBride" by Joe Siple. The author is the voice and I'm enjoying his read! (And his 'write'!). Both books are upcoming reads for my bookclub.

    1. I really enjoyed "The Book Club for Troublesome Women", but haven't read (or listened to) the other.

  2. Hmmm - this is one I'm pretty sure I won't read. King's books mostly give me nightmares, although I did enjoy The Green Mile.

  3. Not a scary book/movie fan. I need to choose & start reading a new book from my very long TBR list!

Nice that your group is open to all types of books.

  4. I’m sure it’s hard to continue to be inspired to write. It becomes your job. Just get through another day.

    You will be home soon!

  5. I used to read Stephen King, but eventually found his writing a bit formulaic. When I can figure out what might happen next, I'm out. I can see why you would give it no more than a 7.

  6. I'm not a Stephen King fan so I wouldn't be reading it in any case. At least you rated it a 7.

  7. I've not read his books. We did stay in the "Stanley Hotel" in Colorado where he wrote the "shining." I was scared all night just being in the hotel where he wrote this book.

  8. I haven't read any of his books. I'm not into thrillers. I'm more the cozy mystery type. Ha!
    Blessings and hugs,

  9. I'm going to be honest, Stephen King peaked during his cocaine years in the 70s and 80s. Anything after that is just selling because of his name. I love cocaine-era King novels; they're among some of my very favorite books, and I read them at quite a young age. But anything after that is ... meh.
