Retrieving

I was minding my own business working on Christmas ornaments when I heard peals of laughter downstairs.  Then my phone pinged.

Sadie was quite happy and proud of herself when she retrieved my crochet project out of my project bag.  It is a special bag with a zipper that I ordered for my take along projects after many days of chasing down balls of yarn in the backseat of the car. The bag has a zipper on top but I must remember to zip it up!

No harm was done to the project...just a few rows were unraveled...by the way this is a pink and white shell stitch afghan that I am making to stash away in case someone has a little girl someday.  Shell stitch is one of my favorite stitches.  Just to give you perspective I crocheted a soft green afghan in shell stitch for Savannah back in 1996...another some years later and yet another one that I gave her last summer.

And Sadie does what all good Golden Retrievers do...she retrieves.

  1. I had two retrievers living in my house at one time. It was hilarious. Missy would bring me my running shoes and Nike would bring me a leash she pulled off a doornob. Sometimes there would be some teeth marks in it when they were young, as they grew older, they got better at it! Sweet!

  5. Funny Sadie, she just wants to help. :) I've had a grandchild do that....and since I have only one, you know which one it was.

  6. She really does look happy. My guess is she is thinking, "She frequently has this in her hand or lap. She probably forgot it. Let me take it to her. She will appreciate I did that for her."
Or she thought, "Her hands are always on this. Let me see if she left those behind and I can still be petted."
Sadie is such a beautiful woman. I am thankful you get to enjoy her company.

  7. I read recently about a lady who finished a big project. Her daughter’s puppy chewed a hole in it. You were lucky. Sadie’s probably passed the chewing stage but I bet she could make good tangles!

  9. Some lucky baby ... the dog just wanted to check to see if you were crocheting it properly. (grin)

  12. When I first began reading I thought Sadie had learned how to open zippers :)
I suppose it's possible. One of my grandkitties has learned to open doors ( but only the kinds that have handles not knobs.)

  13. She's very proud of herself. So happy to have retrieved your project for you. I'm sure it smells like Grandma, one of her favorite people.
    Blessings,

  14. LD.....That dog is so wonderful. She thinks she did a good thing getting it out for you. I remember when our poodle Button grabbed a check for three thousand and ran around the room with it.

  15. My son's dog would always have underwear in his mouth walking nonchalant around the house! It was always so funny! He would always look out of the corner of his eye at us but he'd keep walking!
