One down

One radiation treatment down and nineteen to go.  I think Far Guy can ring the bell on December 1st...we will see.  A little 93 year old lady rang the bell today.  Every Monday Far Guy will see the Radiation Oncologist after his treatment.  Since the radiation treatment is very specialized to spare his lung the treatment takes 13 minutes.  Far Guy says it seems like forever.

We are mostly unpacked.

Meals for tonight and tomorrow night have been planned.  Brats and potato soup tonight, BLT's tomorrow night.  I like to plan meals a week ahead of time...but with moody eaters I count two nights menus as a win!!

I took this photo last week at a friends house, a very cute fall arrangement in an old wheelbarrow.

  3. Glad to hear the radiation treatments are underway. It will be a wonderful day when he rings that bell.
Lovely arrangement in the wheelbarrow. When I'm living with my daughter and grandson we try to plan weekly menus, though leftovers have a tendency to change those plans (too little, too much). On my own, I'm more likely to think about what I want for the next night while I'm eating today's dinner. :)

  4. I like to know ahead of time what I am cooking, too. Planning is more work than the execution to me. At radiation - - do they have music that can play through some speakers and that he can pick the songs? Or is he able to carry an audio book on his phone and listen to it? Time does move slowly when you aren't allowed to move for that length of time.

  5. Praying the radiation treatments are soon over and Far Guy can be all better and not have to go through anymore of that!

  6. Glad to hear the treatments are underway and I'm so glad you are able to stay with Jen and Andy so you are close to where you'll need to go. I used to be an avid meal planner but these days the only thing I plan are meals for when the girls are here. Other than that I just wing it.

  7. I can relate to your hubby's radiation treatments and pray he has full healing. My dear friend had 20 treatments, 5 days a week. I had a necklace engraved for her with "Trust Jesus" on it. It arrived the morning of her first treatment and she was thrilled and wore it each time!

  11. This made me think of my dad, when he had radiation the procedure went ok he had it once a week for 6 weeks, and it damaged the nerves in his feet leaving him with constant cold feet
