We as in Jen and I have been puzzling. Far Guy did a few pieces here and there. The puzzle is on a puzzle board at the end of the table where he does all his nebulizer treatments...so he has a bit of company in the evenings...and sometimes in the mornings too.
It is our first puzzle finish of the Winter.
Thursday evening we went to the library where they had a puzzle exchange...we left a few and brought home a few. It works for us! Next month we will exchange this puzzle for a different one!
Friday was almost a relief after our ten appointments this week. Next week we have ten medical appointments again...luckily three are virtual so that will help.
The Cancer Center where we go for six of the appointments has a real parking problem. Last week they had Valet Service and we used it! There is just no place to park...the parking lot is full at 8 AM and remains that way all throughout the day. Unbelievable that there was not better planning for patients and employees. One nurse shared that she circles some mornings for 20 minutes before a car moves and she can park and then walk six blocks to work. Not sure where they park the cars for the Valet Service...could be out of town as it takes a long time for them to show up with your car when you are ready to leave the building. Puzzling that there was not better planning. Perhaps the hospital should have been built on the outskirts of town on a larger tract of land.
So far Far Guy's radiation treatments are going well. He is half way done, Friday he completed 10 out of 20 treatments. Most days he is in and out in about 40 minutes. His radiation treatment takes 13 minutes.

We had the same issue at UW of Madison. I always went early and thankfully had a small car we could park easily.
ReplyDelete90 miles each way for a 15 minute appointment.
Super glad that FG is half way done!
I’ll be glad when FG has this in his rear view mirror.
ReplyDeletePuzzling is a good pastime. Larry, his girls and all our grands are really good at it. Sigrid is an ace. I’m on a lower rung!
Good to hear his radiation is going well. That parking situation really is nuts. Both big hospitals in Sioux Falls has valet parking. Otherwise it can sure be a LONG walk from the parking spots. A puzzle exchange is a great idea. I have my first puzzle of the year sitting on my coffee table, but haven't started it yet. Maybe tomorrow. I traded a few with my oldest daughter this summer, and also put some - that I didn't enjoy - on her rummage sale.
ReplyDeleteI just purchased puzzles to go in some gifts I'm giving to my kiddos...I had no idea at how expensive they are. This looks like it was a challenging puzzle. I don't understand why businesses do not plan for parking...Thank goodness that the hospital Sam goes to does have valet parking as well. I know you all are so tired from all of these visits and to think you have 10 more coming up next week. Prayers for strength. So thankful that the radiation is going well for FG. Hope you get some rest this weekend..
ReplyDeleteThat is a lot of appointments, but hopefully this will soon pass. That parking problem is awful!
ReplyDeleteI love the puzzle! I'm so happy to hear Far Guy is already halfway there, that's great news. I hope he is feeling well too. That parking situation sounds ridiculous. I'm sorry you have to deal with that on top of everything else. I hope you are able to have a nice relaxing weekend. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteI know Far Guy will be glad when his treatments are over and he is completely well. The parking situation sounds like a real pain. Still praying and thankful his side effects are minimal. RHill, TX
ReplyDeleteAt the halfway point, yippee! Lots of medical appointments can be exhausting.
ReplyDeleteMy prayers are with you and FarGuy
ReplyDeleteThat puzzle looks hard but it has fun stuff in it!
ReplyDeleteHooray for FG being halfway through with his radiation treatments. That is excellent news.
Very thankful you have valet service offered. They do that at at least one of the hospitals in downtown Chattanooga. It seems you almost have to be a young marathon runner to be able to make the trek into the hospital from the parking garage if you ever find a space.
You would like that they could find off site parking for workers and offer a shuttle since I am assuming there are shift times. And then free up the parking lot for patients!!
ReplyDeleteI used to go to an oncology office that always had a puzzle going ~ so nice to work on something while waiting!
ReplyDeleteFun puzzle!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy to hear the radiation treatments are going well...and half-way done is even better. Good luck with all the appointments this upcoming week.
We have a similar issue in Regina with the hospitals that are currently open. Both are in residential areas (one has some businesses nearby who don't permit hospital parking), so it is a real pain in the butt. The one hospital that was out of the main locations had lots of parking, but it was closed in 1998 and converted to an educational facility. It was a cost saving measure as the province was close to bankruptcy but it sure would have been nice had it been one of the other hospitals.
Sad to say, Duluth has a similar parking problem. The new hospital is downtown, surrounded surrounded mostly by cliffs. The street in front is a wind tunnel of icy air blowing off Lake Superior, so winter is a challenge. So are icy sidewalks. One wonders why a hotel designer was the planner making wide, long corridors, huge windows, very high ceilings and large rooms with Lake Superior views seeming to be the priority. Didn't anybody think of the patients who must try to walk these long corridors, or their family members who need to push them around? These are not pleasure visits. Are they constructed in Downtown areas because the money to build comes from government agencies requiring that to use tax money?
ReplyDeleteMy hubby and I are ending a year of surgeries, falls and endless doctor visits and infusions. We certainly know how exhausted you feel and are hoping all will calm down so the coming year will be a pleasure again. You both have earned that.
Puzzling and puzzling. :-)
ReplyDeleteI don't think I have the patience for such complicated puzzles, and as for the parking problem, what were they thinking!?
Similar issues with hospital parking in this area. Lack of access to wheelchairs in huge hospitals is another pet peeve of mine. Glad to hear FG is at the halfway point in his treatments. I opened a puzzle this morning and spread it out on my kitchen table.
ReplyDeleteHalfway through is good. Congrats! There is a home near my son's house that has a "Little Library", but for puzzles. They have a plastic bench box in their driveway, and you can take and replace as you want. I noticed this time that they have two more plastic bins. It must be popular. I find puzzles to be very relaxing. Hmmm...maybe I should get one out!
ReplyDeleteJig saw puzzles are a great way to spend time.
ReplyDeleteYay for being halfway through the treatments! The hospital where my cardiologist and primary care doctor have their offices has the same parking issue. I always reverted to the valet when I took Mom but I hate waiting a half hour or more for them to return my car. I usually end up walking for that same time period to wherever I've managed to find parking, but at least I'm getting some exercise too. :-)
ReplyDeleteThe puzzle is pretty cool. I was born in 1960 and I recognize some of those things.
Blessings,
Betsy
So glad far guy is halfway done with his radiation treatments. I can't believe the parking situation there...that is unbelieveable. Who planned that? So fun to see you guys working on puzzles again. I love to see the ones you complete. Take good care. diane in northern wis
ReplyDeleteThat looks like quite a challenging puzzle to do. 1000 pieces no doubt. I get bogged down if there are too many pieces .
ReplyDeleteGood to know that Far Guy is half done his treatments.
I've never heard of a puzzle exchange. What a great idea!
ReplyDeleteFinding parking sure is a hassle. Good use of valet parking. Yay for FG being half way through treatments!
Half way through is great but those appointments are just too much! Looks like there wasn't a lot of brainwork going on in planning those medical centers and hospitals! The end goal is fast approaching with positive results! Prayers continue for you both!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a really difficult puzzle! Wow!
ReplyDeleteBoy! I would use valet service every time. Good that they have it. :)
