At least it's windy

There is a saying here Up North.  It's really cold, but at least it's windy.  In the summer it's really hot but at least it's windy.  It seems to be windy just about every day.

There is a huge snow drift in the driveway.  I am not going anyplace anyway.  People are starting to shovel out even though it will just drift in again.   The sound of snow blowers and plow trucks is almost constant.

Andy has returned safely.  A five hour drive back home was an eleven hour icy road trip.

Jen and I ventured out to the Air B&B that they have in Grand Forks...the roads are either ice covered or snow covered.  You have to watch out for yourself and everyone else.

Noah is settling into his new apartment, and Adam is working on the application for his third floor walk up apartment.  Soon both grandboys will be living on their own.  Adulting is an adventure.

I finally put the fence up around the tree as someone kept stealing ornaments.  Someone that wags her tail and growls softly when she has something in her mouth.

  3. Oh Sadie, I think she's talking about you. :) The tree is lovely.

The white knuckle driving of winter weather. I'd be totally exhausted after an 11 hour drive. Glad Andy made it home safely and you and Jen did too.

More snow on the ground here this morning, but not more than a 1/2 inch I think. It's cold out there so I haven't gone out to check.

Good luck to Noah and Adam. That first place of one's own is always special.

  4. One has to be on alert traveling, that's for sure.
Lovely tree. I can understand why you need a gate-lol!

  5. Hahah about the ornaments and pup thief!

Charlie is only interested in stuffed critters that he can tear apart.
We have been plowed out 4 times this week.
The winds are not bad in the woods, just on the ridge.

I am all for staying at home in rough winter conditions. I hear it is going to get really cold this week~
    Say warm and safe.

  9. I was concerned it was FG stealing the ornaments until you said, "she".
I love your ornaments - - - many memories and stories with them I am sure.
Glad you are inside and safe and super glad you have Jen and Andy and sweet Sadie girl.

  10. Dogs are so great. The can find things to entertain themselves. A fence will be necessary.

  12. It's good to see there is still room for more ornaments on that tree. More will be coming, I hope.
I guess that as expert as Minnesotans are at driving in snow, eventually it's too much for you!
We've had some wind today that is continuing to blow the last of the Alder leaves off the trees. Fall isn't really over until the Solstice on Dec. 21. Winter is knocking on the door though. Brrr.

  13. I tried putting our tree inside the playpen one year to keep the littlest one out of it. It only slowed her down a couple of days until she figured out she could push a chair next to it and climb in. Our cat would steal just one ornament - a little muslin angel. He brought the whole tree down twice. I finally gave him that angel, and he didn’t bother the tree anymore. Christmas trees are hard to protect from determined kids and critters.

  15. The tree is lovely. Good thing you can erect a fence to keep the ornaments on the tree safe from you-know-who.
