One good hand

I had surgery last week on my left hand.  I had a bothersome cyst removed from the base of my thumb that was causing my carpel tunnel to be worse.  I am recovering just fine, I still have some pain.  Far Guy and Jen are taking good care of me.  I spend a fair amount of time with my hand in the air.

I can still use my fingers but cannot grip or carry anything for a while.

I have been watercoloring a bit and working on cards, watching movies with my hand elevated...and sleeping.

Yesterday I watched My Dog Skip I give it a 9 out of 10 and Cadillac Records I give that one an 8 out of 10.  I have a hard time reading as it makes me sleepy.

I am very thankful to have the surgery behind me and to get on with the recovery.

  3. Thanks for the update! I was going to email you and see how you were doing. Glad you're not left handed like me! LOL! They've been advertising some new thing for carpel tunnel not involving surgery. I'll try and catch the name of it next time I see it. Hang in there....carving season is coming!

  4. Best wishes on a speedy recovery. I have had similar surgery. It is amazing what you need to use two hands to do. And how frustrating it is to not be able to do those things. It sounds like you have some terrific caregivers. Rest is best. Glad you found some good movies.

  5. It seems as if you and Far Guy have had your share of medical stuff recently. Here is to hoping you go through a drought of medical procedures in the coming years.

  6. Oh, I wish I would have known. An extra prayer or two never hurts. I hope it heals very quickly for you my friend.
We've been watching "Escape to the Country" episodes on YouTube. It's kind of like the House Hunters show here but better. It features people looking for homes in the country in the UK. Just something you might like. I love to see the decorating there.
    Blessings,

  7. This should make a tremendous quality of life improvement for you. Enjoy the naps and extra assistance while you can. Carpal Tunnel issues can be so painful. I've watched several coworkers over the years as they dealt with that pain.

  8. I had a ganglion cyst on my wrist most of my life. It wasn’t painful and finally just went away. Hope this helps you.

  13. I hope you recover swiftly. I worry that I will lose the ability of one hand, even temporarily. There are some things that I could NEVER do with just one hand. BTW, I am going to learn to crochet. I have a library book; read the first chapter, and am going to the crafts store this week to buy a needle/hook and some yarn. Can you do this with one hand? Personally, I can't see how. Again, please have a quick, safe, and complete recovery.

  14. I'm so glad the surgery is over with and went well. Now you just need rest and recovery time. Don't let Sadie make you forget not to use your hand--LOL! ;)

  16. I'm sorry you had to have this done but it is good it's behind you now. Hand surgery is not easy. I've had carpal tunnel surgery and it sure made me appreciate having the use of both hands. Putting on a bra with one hand is just about impossible! Heal quickly and feel better!

  18. Now you'll get to wear the plastic bag over your hand for a while. I hope your healing foes well. Tom's hands are healing well, but the physical therapy is making his arthritis hurt almost worse that the trigger finger did.

  20. So glad you're recovering from your cyst surgery and that things are going well for you. Hope you'll be feeling fine soon and able to use that left hand again. My husband had a cyst removed from his head last week! Must be the season! Just saw a couple of ants on our bedroom floor...they usually come in Spring. Good grief, it hasn't even been warm yet!

  22. I'm glad you got it taken care of, and doubly glad it's your left hand, so you can still paint. I get not being able to read, I fall asleep all the time while reading too. OK...to be honest, I fall asleep all the time no matter what I'm doing here at home.
