Weekend

We finally got a bit of sun, probably won't last long ...the S word is in the forecast.   It is not my fault either...I was tempted to put the snow shovels away...but I didn't want to tempt fate.

Far Guy changed oil and the oil filter on my lawn mower...so it is ready to go!

My baby brother, his bride and Baxter visited with us in the afternoon.  Baxter has sure grown while he was gone...I will take some photos of the cute little bugger soon.

I caught up on laundry, cleaned the bathroom and in the evening we watched the miserable Hockey Championship.

I worked on some of the May Baskets while watching the miserable game.  St Cloud lost.

The other day when we were out and about we watched for protesters ...didn't see any but heard there was a bunch of arrests.  I am sure they were out by the next day...

This is Line 3 that will carry oil from Canada to Lake Superior.   It replaces an older line and will be safer than the old line.

In other news I heard that a major highway will be closed all summer because they are putting buggy lanes in.   Making it safer for the people who use horse drawn buggies.

  1. We will never get around the issue of transporting things like fuel or oil. I know when I worked at the power plant people bemoaned our piles of coal and the dust but were able to use power from that coal to operate their computers or charge their phones.
We drive and don't think of the 'how' parts of the fuel getting to our vehicle. It doesn't magically appear.
Anyway, off my soapbox now. Have a good day.

  3. I LOVE your May Basket designs! My mom collected lots of owl "things" - - mostly prints and photos but had some "standing" pieces that have been distributed throughout the kids and grandkids.

  4. Cute owl basket!

The S word hasn't started here, yet, but I was talking with my daughter this morning and it was coming down heavy there. She's about 90 miles northeast of us here. It's in the forecast for us too so I expect I'll see it later today.

  5. Super cute May basket!! I am glad you have Sun in the forecast. That is the S word you were talking about, right ;) If you get the other S, at least it won't stick around long. Interesting they are putting in buggy lanes.

  6. Better the S word rather than the W word. We can get 50-80 mph winds here in the Spring.
    Aaaargh!!!

  7. My aunt collected owl stuff. Cute baskets.
Maybe they'll be wrong about the snow. If we do get any it won't last long, at least.

  8. I hope that S word doesn't happen! Even here in Missouri we have seen it in April but usually it doesn't last long. I love your May basket! Have fun making them!

  9. Your May basket is so cute. What do you put in them? We've had some lovely days here but I never rule out the S word until May! Perhaps you can blame Far Guy for getting the lawn mower ready! Have a great week!

  10. Either you have Amish in your neck of the woods. OR forecasters are predicting that gasoline vehicles will soon be outlawed! You know you live in Minnesota when you watch hockey as entertainment. ( Big in Alaska as well, though mostly people just play the game rather than watch it. Highschool teams did not have hockey teams in Michigan ( maybe the U.P.) But when I was IN New Ulm, The Highschool kids we worked with had to go to Hockey practice. Quite the shock. Iowa has no hockey teams that I know of.

  11. The "S" word...really? Well, it is still April but I don't ever remember getting snow after Easter.

  12. Minnesota colleges sure dominated the Frozen Four. I guess hockey is still king. Hopefully you won’t see any more snow. We could use a little more rain but I’m enjoying the sunshine this weekend.

  16. Your May baskets always turn out so great....I almost thought this was going to be a turkey this year! But somebody else said owls...so I'll wait to see what it is. Those lucky people that get your May baskets! Sorry about the hockey tournie. Hope you don't get too much snow.

  17. I'm looking forward to seeing your May baskets. Crazy about snow arriving still although driving through so much of the nasty stuff last week, I shouldn't be surprised.
Where do those protesters think they're fuel is coming from? They need to get jobs!
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  18. I don't watch much sports but did watch the Masters golf tournament yesterday, hoping that the Japanese guy would win, and he did. Asians need some reasons to celebrate, I think. Sorry about your hockey team losing. :-(

  20. I won't have to mess with my mower this year. Unfortunately then I am at the decisions of the company as to when things get to be mowed. I have a neighbor woman at the old place who wants to make money so she is mowing the other property.
