It is Friday again…before I retired the days never went as fast as they do now.
Chance is becoming real bossy. He wants both of us up early in the morning…and knows when I am awakened by his cold nose, I will take him outside and make sure he goes potty. Far Guy just sends him off by himself to potty all alone. Often times after we are both awake for the day Chance goes back to sleep…he must think it is one of his new jobs.
I am still waiting for some W 2’s for the Income Taxes. I did our taxes years ago. Never again. We have been audited twice and had a few greetings come in the mail…and that is with an accountant doing the computations. Last summer we were sent an IRS bill. Of course we contested it…it was obviously an error on their part…but they are never wrong. Our accountant wrote them a letter on our behalf and about six weeks later we got a letter saying that we owed them zero $. That was about the time that there was an IRS Scam going on in this area…whoever it was called us three times in one day saying that if we didn’t pay up right now we would be going to jail. Buggers anyway…kinda scary when someones says you are going to jail…but then I thought hey they have to cook for me and I would have lots of leisure time…
I cleaned out part of the pantry and donated some real smelly laundry soap and a few other items to the local food shelf. One of our local stores had a coupon for a free can of Hormel Chili with Beans….we like ours without beans so it is a really good item to send to the food shelf…and it didn’t cost anything.
The funny this week: We were in Wallyworld shopping, Far Guy had his list and I had mine. On his travels…he likes to walk up and down all the aisles getting his steps in when he saw an old woman he knew, she warned him to keep his distance as she had a bad cold. She also said “Don’t talk to my husband either, he has a bad cold also.” Well low and behold..a few aisles later Far Guy saw him taking stuff off the shelf, looking at it and then putting it back. I said “Maybe there should be a rule, if you touch something you should buy it.” Far Guy said “We would have a lot of shampoo then.”
Guilty, I am guilty of reading labels on shampoo bottles, if fragrance is one of the first three items listed in the ingredients it is returned to the shelf. Good grief…I am also guilty of standing in the shampoo aisle smelling shampoo to see if we can live with it or not. Prell gives me an instant sore throat and sinus problems…it has been years since I have used it….but it always looks so pretty in the container.
Such a pretty photo of lilacs. I went to WM yesterday. I take a long time just reading labels to check sugar content. We are still waiting on paperwork in order to make an appt. with our accountant. He is about an hour away but we hate to change after so many years. He is located near our (old) favorite Vet so we usually stop in and visit him. Wishing you guys a nice weekend.
ReplyDeleteWe are having our taxes done on Monday. The only good thing about it is when we find out how much our refund is. Sometimes when I am shopping I wish I had gloves on as I have seen people sneeze all over items on the shelf. It's a wonder I am still alive and well. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteLilacs...perfect way to brighten up this cold day. I do see sunshine though. That is always nice.
ReplyDeleteJust thinking about taxes makes me nervous! Maybe I should just have your attitude toward prison and I wouldn't worry so much.
ReplyDeleteI have to smell everything scented in the store before I bring it home because most of the smells are too strong and "chemically". I just sent carpet stuff to the trash can because the smell of the carpet made me nauseous for days. Once I find something I like I stick to it. I've been using the exact same shampoo for years and I hope the bottle never says "New Scent" when I go to buy the next one!
I love the funny story! Far Guy must have stood and waited on you before, while you read labels. :) The Lilac blooms are so pretty. Will spring ever get here!
ReplyDeleteI love the photo. Makes me long for summer!
ReplyDeleteI have read that the IRS never communicates by phone - only by letter. This information should protect from scams.
ReplyDeleteShirley H.
Now you got me longing for lilacs.
ReplyDeleteWe are still waiting for W2's also. There used to be a day when they all had to be here in January...seems like not anymore. We also were audited twice...and we also have a CPA firm do all our taxes. Whew!
ReplyDeleteLinda
We're waiting for W's too. Never been audited, but the Army decided my husband had died and told our bank to return his retirement check.
ReplyDeleteYes, you have to pick them up to read labels. Germs are everywhere, no matter what--LOL! Think of your mail when it comes and how many hands have held each piece of that, too. Well, I try not to think about it, hope the germs freeze to death on the way to my house right now, and wash my hands a lot--LOL!
ReplyDeleteWe need to be exposed to a certain amount of germs so that we can develop immunities to them. That's why now they are saying it is good to let your kids play in the dirt and to have pets.
ReplyDeleteWe have mostly been using baking soda to wash our hair. Cheap, no smell, and less concern of chemicals going into the septic system. Larry said he got rid of his dandruff when he switched. I use a bit of vinegar in water as a conditioner.
Here with taxes we wait for our 'T's:)
Lovely flowers. I agree with Karen, that we shouldn't be paranoid of germs, just wise and washing our hands. I try to avoid smelly things, as I'm sometimes allergic.
ReplyDeleteI had forgotten about Prell - - - haven't used it probably since high school. We are fortunate NOT to be bothered by fragrances. I look for shampoos that add volume to my fine hair - - - Don't know that it's working but it can't hurt? Currently I am using Pantene. It does give good shine.
ReplyDeletePapa and I dont like the harsh store bought shampoos any more but we used to do the same thing in the shampoo isle . Oh and the bit about jail I have said the same thing three meals a day cooked and served, sleep when I want to , laundry done for me , hell yeah where do I sign up lol ! We get all our as we call them tax slips in the mail and Papa gets his ones from work and we have an accountant to do it all and send it in have done for years it is easier then mucking about with it all our selves . We use goats milk shampoo from our local all natural shop in town called Home Made From The Farm from a family run and owned homesteaders the stuff is wonderful and chemical free all natural . Thanks for sharing , Have a good weekend !
ReplyDeleteCaught my books up today too. You made me laugh..I'm a smeller too......if it doesn't smell nice (I hate coconut and vanilla) I make a face and put it back.
ReplyDeleteWe have gone to baby shampoo and it has been better for us , to much harsh chemicals for our delicate old skin now in grownup stuff.
ReplyDeleteI used the you touch it, you buy it on school field trips when we stopped at a place to get the pop and chips resupplied.
ReplyDeleteI'm laughing. I hope that's OK. Remind me not to go shopping with you two.
ReplyDeleteI'll be posting about taxes today.
I heard that IRS scam was the biggest scam of last year. I got those phone calls too. I didn't answer. They left messages. I googled the phone nimber and knew it was a scam. Wish those scammers would put their energy into making this world a better place!!!
ReplyDeleteWe've had a similar scam here lately along with the your grandson has beenarrested in Alabama for serious driving charges and needs bail money" scam.
ReplyDeleteOur grandson is in third grade....
One of our earlier dogs did not know when Saturday came and would worry us to death to get up to go to work. Now we don't know how to sleep in!
ReplyDeleteI have two different brands of shampoo and I just went to look at the list of ingredients. Well, the first one has fragrance listed last ( I have never caught even a whiff of scent from it) and the other bottle has print so tiny even with my bifocals I can't for the likes of me read it.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny. My husband does the same thing with our dog. Sends him out on his own, while if it's me, Bracken looks back to make sure I'm coming along with him. Which of course I do.
Sleep? Of course that is one of a dog's jobs--Chance probably didn't even need to graduate from obedience school to pull that one off! And I'm sure he's quite diligent at his duties there ;)
ReplyDeleteWe get our taxes done at the Senior Center by AARP volunteers. It's free and easy. Of course we don't have much money and it's all done in a few minutes and filed electronically. Love that lilac picture. I don't use commercial shampoos but get it in bulk at the community food co-op. I just reuse the same bottle over and over. :-)
ReplyDeleteMy husband laughs at me because I keep hand sanitizer in the car and wash my hands the second I put the groceries in the trunk and put the cart back. Grocery carts and folks touching things combine to attract a lot of germs.
ReplyDeleteMy husband is the early riser around here. The dog would much prefer to sleep in and actually pretends not to hear him when he tells her it's time to go outside.
Barney has to have his mom be up before he will go outside. Both people must be alive and well or he stays inside. His patterns of behavior these days is to hurry up the routines. He wants us to get over breakfast more quickly as he likes coffee time in front of the tv. He doesn't get much except dry milk bone biscuits during that time but we must get in there and get started. His mom pets him a lot during that time and then he goes and takes a nap. Buttons age is such that he can get me up three times a night. He doesn't care who takes him down and outside but someone has to do it. It is best that we do before it is too late.
