We were invited into town for fireworks. Many thanks to Gravy and Dawn who were very gracious to include us! They have a prime viewing spot along the river.
It rained this past week and we had a shower that went through earlier in the evening. So it was reasonably safe for the fireworks. The fire trucks were standing by.
Jen borrowed my tripod, she has never photographed fireworks with a tripod before.
I just took these shots with my camera on the ground..they turned out pretty good.
I have one that I thought was way cool. It looks like an angel!
For a small town Park Rapids puts on a very nice fireworks display.
We had a quiet day. We ran an errand in town and stopped by the Dairy Queen for a Sundae. It was very warm (95F or 35C) so we skipped the 4th of July parade. Far Guy was not feeling too perky after having two of his teeth pulled on Tuesday:(
Fantastic photos ! I do hope Far Guy feels better soon ! Have a good day and stay cool , it's a humid one here to !
ReplyDeleteI've never tried to capture fireworks with a camera. I think it would be quite a challenge - but you sure seem to have risen to it! Your shots are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear that Far Guy isn't feeling so great.
I tried to take fireworks pictures one year and they were a dismal failure. These are indeed spectacular, and without a tripod! Glad to hear you and Far Guy took it easy and had a good day.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos - no fireworks here because they were banned due to fire danger. My day was very quiet and relaxing.
ReplyDeleteAll the best to Far Guy.
Love your photos. We are going to a display on Saturday night. Predicting cooler weather by then. I hope so. This is getting to be a bit much!! Stay Cool!
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a wonderful fourth! I need to learn how to take fireworks with my fancy camera, they seem to never turn out. I think I need to use a tripod!
ReplyDeleteI love your shots of the fireworks, especially the "angel" one. It was 106 degrees on my front porch at 3:30 PM. Very dry conditions. Our City fireworks were halted half way thru due to the fact they started a grass fire where they were being launched from. One other local community also had to halt their's due to the fact they also started a grass fire. Many other communities had cancelled theirs. We need rain desperately. My husband is on vacation this week and so far we haven't been able to do much of anything due to the extreme heat. Sure hope Far Guy is feeling better soon.
ReplyDeleteThe fireworks shots are spectacular!
ReplyDeleteYour camera did an excellent job of capturing the fireworks. Glad you got to do that trip but also glad you are avoiding the heat during the day while Far Guy recovers. His body had trauma and it takes a bit to regain the healthy balance.
ReplyDeleteGreat pics! I hope FarGuy feels better soon. Having teeth pulled is no fun. Glad you had a comfy spot to watch the display, though. Too hot for me. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat shots!
ReplyDeleteHugs to Far Guy.
Oh, I hope he feels better soon...ouch! That can't be fun.
ReplyDeleteYour pictures DID turn out great and that one DOES look like an angel! I stayed home. It was too hot for me...it was still 91 at 8:00 last night and it's 97 now and not even noon yet. I guess they're right..."the elderly can't handle the heat"! LOL!
I got out early and watered and now I'm in for the day. It's a sad way to spend a summer. Maybe I need to move to Alaska.
Good job getting fireworks photos. I've never had much luck with that. I probably need to try the tripod or on-the-ground trick.
ReplyDeleteNice job on the pictures, I am impressed, I've not ventured into that venue yet (maybe next year). Hope Far Guy is feeling better soon and that the weather cools too.
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the pic's. Its been a LONG time since I've even seen fireworks. Hope the Far Guy is feeling better.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry about only having a small-town fireworks display. Did you hear what happened to San Diego's big-town display? It was over in 30 seconds...
ReplyDeleteYour middle picture does look like an angel. Beautiful. That one's a keeper. You should frame it!
Hope Far Guy is feeling better. That tooth stuff sounds like no fun, especially coupled with the other issue...
Those I really good photographs of the fireworks, I know how hard it is to capture their colour and movement with any accuracy. But with your photographs I can almost hear the wizz and the bang.
ReplyDeleteThe angel one is indeed quite beautiful. Are you talking Park Rapids, Minnesota? I watched the fireworks over Green Lake in Spicer, Minnesota for almost 50 years. I'm headed up from Texas to Itasca State Park this summer and to Bemidji. Then visiting and staying with friends near Warba. Any suggestions on exactly how to see the headwaters?
