Sunday we helped celebrate the twins birthday..they are eight. Hard to believe that they are that old!
This is the neighborhood gang. They ride their bikes by and holler Hi! They all adore Chance and sometimes stop by to play ball with him. The twins were very afraid of Chance for a long time..then they learned to throw the ball for him..it was the bridge that they need to form a friendship with Chance to get over their fear of dogs.
We had a water balloon fight…it was great fun. Katie gave me a bucket to fill with balloons so I would have lots of ammo. The kids really had a good time. Some of the best placed balloons would just bounce off and splash on the ground. HOWEVER I did get wet!
This is “the eight” all Grands of my brother and “she who sees robins first” who live next door. I can’t believe I got all of them in the same photo while they were having a squirt gun fight.
Our weather turned really warm and humid. It was 100 degrees on Monday. In the evening we had a storm breeze through and we got 1 3/4 inches of rain in just a little while. North of us at Bemidji the winds were 80 mph..our daughter has a tree down in her yard. We lost power for five hours. We went for a ride and then read by book light and Kindle and slept until the power came back on.
It looks like a very warm week. However at least we have power unlike many people out east..and now we got rain, which I wish the west would get to put out the wildfires:(
You are such a wonderful Grandmother - inviting chaos into your yard! What a fun way to celebrate a birthday! IL wonder if the inventor of balloons ever figured we'd do such a fun thing with them?!
ReplyDeleteOh, a water balloon fight! What a great bunch of kids you've got there, Connie. It's raining outside right now but then it's supposed to stop and give us several days of sunshine. I can't wait! :-)
ReplyDeletePrecious, summer-time fun! Brings back memories from childhood.
ReplyDeleteCute pictures of the kids. Can't believe how they are ALL growing! I miss the water balloon fights. Bet they had fun, and especially throwing them at You!
ReplyDeleteI haven't been involved in a water balloon fight since my kids were small. Best thing to do on a hot day.
ReplyDeleteThe grandchildren are so cute!
Oh it is great to be eight! And it appears to be great to be in the eight!
ReplyDeleteI always got confused as a child by the great aunt thing... Aunts and uncles being sister and brother to mom or dad but grandma's sister is my great aunt?
Looks like a fun day. Sorry you lost power but you are fortunate that it wasn't for longer. Like you, I am hoping for some rain on the western fires.
ReplyDeleteI could use a good water-balloon fight right about now. I saw on TV that you were getting big nasty storms. We got some in the middle of the night but not quite so violent. I was glad because I haven't been able to get out at water the garden. Have a wonderful Fourth!
ReplyDeleteThe side benefit of a strategy that uses equipment with limited fire power: range of picture can encompass range of squirt!
ReplyDeleteHow lovely it is to be young and carefree! Maybe I should get out my sprinkler and hide while I play and no one would be the wiser ;)
ReplyDeleteThis was the perfect weather for kiddie pools, water balloons, and water pistols!!! What a great birthday for the twins. Such hot-hot-sticky weather. Even the storms don't seem to put a dent in the humidity. This too shall pass. ;)
ReplyDeleteWe are very lucky to have electricity and no fires. I hope the tree didn't do any damage to your daughter's place. :)
Well, hell's bells....I might as well stay in the South if you're going to have the same type of weather! What's up with that? You were my source for all things cool and comfortable. 100?????? That just wrong! For you Northerners anyway. Thank goodness you have all those lakes to cool off in!
ReplyDeleteThe kids looked like they had a "blast".....a squirt gun blast! LOL!
Happy 4th to you and your family.
With all the heat a water balloon fight would be perfect. Yes the heat is awful but we are not getting any storms or rain. The week will be all the same. Take care and stay cool.
ReplyDeleteWith eight little beaners like this it's wall to wall fun. They have so much energy.
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos ! Reminds me of us kids on the farm on a hot summers day !
ReplyDeleteWhat cute faces! Such fun for you and the kids.
