We had Book Club yesterday. It was The Frozen River by Ariel Lawhon.
It was a great read...the best so far this year. I give it a 9.5 out of a 10. I rated it that way because I wanted the book to continue on and on. I was sad when I came to the last pages.
All the gals liked the book.
Thursday we were back to "normal" Far Guy went to his weekly Infusion and I went to Aldi for fruit, to Walmart for my pickup order, then to Hugos for the stuff Aldi and Walmart did not have ( it is Summertime and the tourists are buying lots of groceries) then to the Post Office. Far Guy messaged me as I was leaving the Post Office so I picked him up and we went to the Meat Market and to the bank.
I only like going to town once a week especially in the Summertime. It was a busy day.
What's Cooking? Cheesburgers and corn.
Minnesota weather: High 82F or 28C Low was 62F or 17C
Far Side
Our little town surrounded by a lake is a busy seasonal place too. Early in the morning is the best time to get out to grocery shop & do business.
ReplyDeleteI read that book too. I really liked it too.
ReplyDeleteAh, so nice to get all those things done in one day! Cheeseburgers and corn: perfect.
ReplyDeleteBack to "normal" is good - even if your day was mostly running errands. The sweet corn has been pretty good this last week or so. But I'm really eager for the little farm stand to open with fresh tomatoes. I'll trust your book recommendation and add this one to my list.
ReplyDeleteGlad you are both feeling back to normal!
ReplyDeleteFrozen River is in my TBR folder. I read hard copies, but keep a digital file of TBR books. Good to know it is the (best) kinda book that you don't want to end. Now I wonder why you rated it 9.5 vs 10 lol.
I am finding it harder and harder to 'go to town'. Sigh
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a very good day!
ReplyDeleteYou and Far Guy had the kind of day that wears me out!
ReplyDeleteI don't like going into town as a general rule! Good for you.
ReplyDeletecheeseburgers and corn sound great...although my body doesnt seem to like corn lately. I prefer not to go to town much either....do have to go to the clinic twice a week but otherwise don't like all the tourists around this summer.
ReplyDeleteConnie, I'm glad you liked that book. I loved it, especially because it was based on a real midwife when the state of Maine was just being settled.
ReplyDeleteI just went to the library site and requested that book. I am #56 on the waiting list.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the book plug. I added it to my list.
ReplyDeleteBook clubs just make reading that much better.
ReplyDeleteGoing into town forty minutes away is tough because I have to plan a list so I'm tired before I go and it takes all my energy for the next day also!
ReplyDeleteOnly time that I eat corn is in the summer from the local farmers!
Glad that you both are back feeling better for awhile.
I'm not sure if my partial comment went through. This is the first year I've had critters eating plants. Thankfully they're little ones, not deer. Good luck for the petunias.
