We had a quiet day, not much labor involved. Far Guy did some woodcarving. We discussed our plans for the wood carved Christmas ornament and have revised our plan. There was simply not enough outside woodcarving days to accomplish Far Guy's original design. However he will have all Winter to finish them up for next year. So we are going forward with a different design....one we think we can accomplish.
I finished up my card project and emptied out that container and then immediately filled it with "stuff" to do Christmas Cards with. I think I have decided on a design...maybe.
We are getting our ducks in a row...maybe.
Minnesota weather: High 78F or 26C Low was 58F or 15C. I heard the s word for Northernmost Minnesota.
Supper was Hobo dinner (Hamburger, potato, carrots baked and then covered with cheese) :)
Far Side
Nice quacker!
ReplyDeleteI didn't labor too much either but I did have to go out and water. We need rain badly! Your dinner sounded great and you guys are troopers with your carving and card making.
ReplyDeleteMy family and I spent Labor Day weekend In Hocking Hills attending the wedding of my granddaughter, Samantha. Wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteIt is always good to get all your ducks in a row. You all have had a lot on your plate these past few months, so deciding to go with a different plan is totally understandable. What ever carving you go with, will be perfect..
ReplyDeleteThat is one big duck to get in a row!! As for the woodworking change of plan, health takes priority. Will look forward to seeing design B. I hope WI gets a lot more of the S word than last season.
ReplyDeleteIt got pretty chilly camping last night. We had all of the windows open and were very content snuggled down in our bed.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you're getting prepared for Christmas. I need to get on the ball and get all of the socks knitted for the kids and grands. There are just not enough days.
Blessings and hugs,
Betsy
Sometimes the best of plans have to be altered.
ReplyDeleteYou all are amazing with the wood carving. It is an enormous project and you are smart to begin it so early. I did some Christmas preparation this summer. I am giving away my big Christmas tree. The grandsons are not here every day anymore. It was taking me up to four days between decorating and repacking for family to come over for gift exchange and food for three hours. So one of MY Christmas gifts will be giving myself the gift of time returned for those four days. I do have more than enough Christmas stuff to still use for decorating. So - - I am not saying, "Bah humbug" but rather "Enjoy the season a bit more this year". However this idea does make me almost feel officially - - - old.
ReplyDeleteNo - it's too early for that S word, isn't it? Enjoy some nice fall weather while it lasts I guess. We have a couple of days predicted for this week with highs in mid-60s. That is pretty chilly for us this time of year.
ReplyDeleteI have leftover handmade Christmas cards from many years and I think I am going to use those this year. I'm really glad I have them because at the rate I'm going I may not be unpacked by Christmas--lol! I love seeing what you two have come up with for the hand carved ornament and what pretty Christmas card you have decided upon. It will be here sooner than we think, that's for sure. Time always seems to speed up after Labor Day--lol!
ReplyDeleteIt was a hard summer to be outside with all the smoke for sure!
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to tie up ends also. So far I'm getting the outside stuff done, just a few more things to go before we freeze. The inside stuff seems to take forever.
ReplyDeleteI had to laugh at your "maybe's". I can't wait to see this years creative Christmas endeavors.
ReplyDeleteWe all need to get our ducks in a row. FG is feeling ambitious sounds like. Wonderful to be recovering.
ReplyDeleteMy ducks are not lining up very well yet. I'll keep working on it. :-)
ReplyDeleteChristmas seems so far off, but with your projects I can understand getting things underway. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI'm in the "never has her ducks in a row" club. I was in the middle of a sorting project and then we got a call about visiting relatives. I called several restaurants and they were all closed on Monday so I shoved it all back in the storeroom and found an open grocery store and cooked enough food for a restaurant. The bright side is we will have leftovers for a week.
