As most everyone knows, I love dogs and so does Far Guy. After our last Chance to have a dog, we enjoy other people’s dogs.
This dog of course. Sadie who we helped spoil rotten when she was a puppy. We helped potty train her and eventually taught her to use the doggie door. She listens to us quite well. Last night I found a pool toy that gave me an advantage…and she swam after it many times until she was tired. Jen and Andy either take her for a W (walk) every night or throw pool toys for her. Sadie and I went to dog obedience school one Winter.
Grandson Noah had to work a twelve hour shift on Tuesday so he asked if his dogs could visit for the day. We said sure.
This is Aurora she is a one person dog but tolerates us. She likes to be pet on her own terms. She has been here often enough that she knows how to use the doggie door. She is almost smiling at me in the photo!
Then there is this dog.
This is Noble. She was a rescue. She is part Blue Heeler…then possibly Chihuahua or Mini Pinscher. I am leaning toward the Mini Pin because she is assertive, out going, happy and extremely friendly. She was an absolute joy to dog sit. I think she likes men better than women because she wanted to be right next to Far Guy although she spent some time on my lap too. Noble is about a year old. I think she would excel in dog obedience classes.Noble and Sadie have hopefully worked the Alpha dog thing out…the winner is Sadie. Sadie is not aggressive but just forward enough that Noble finally submitted to her. Yeah Sadie!
No we are not getting a dog, it is just not possible at this time in our lives. However we do miss the companionship.
Far Side
These are grand dogs. I have them too. I love dogs, but I’m not getting another. I often long for an outside dog that would sleep on my back porch. He’d keep the squirrels from my feeders. He chase the Red tailed hawks away. He’d sit by me when I rest on my porch. He’d walk with me excited. I feel like crying just dreaming of having such a devoted friend.
ReplyDeleteI miss Henry, my granddaughter's dog who lived with me for a while, but I am too old to have a dog now. I would worry about what would happen to the dog when I die.
ReplyDeleteYou are so fortunate to enjoy other people's dogs. I love Miss Peeps but in reality I am a dog person and I too miss the companionship. All 3 are beautiful dogs.
ReplyDeleteI grew up around dogs and miss having one in my life. But my lifestyle combined with the lack of family around anymore, just doesn't make sense to have one again. I don't think I would be able to leave my pet in a kennel for several weeks while I'm off on a vacation.
ReplyDeleteYes, that sweet Sadie! I remember you & Far Guy having a big part in raising her. She's such a cutie patootie. I'm glad she got to have some visitors (Noble & Aurora) for the day...and I'm glad she let her buddies know whose house it is. Mind your manners when visiting someone else's turf, Noble & Aurora! *haha* Love, Andrea xoxo
ReplyDeleteLike you I also miss having dogs and cats, but have decided too that I just don't want any pets right now. I appreciate being able to leave home and just lock up behind us without having to make arrangements for pets. And I can get all the doggie love at both daughters' houses. One has 3 dogs - 2 goldens and a small breed. The other has a Boston Terrier who loves to snuggle. Maybe some day we'll get a cat again as they are more independent.
ReplyDeleteI love ❤️ animals, and dogs 🐕 are definitely in the mix. Beautiful photos of these sweet dogs.
ReplyDeleteAnd you get to have lots of Grand and Great Grand dogs---which is a very nice thing!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you have such good dog company while you are there. :)
ReplyDeleteI understand this completely. I miss dogs, too, and can't have any more. My son has a dog but we don't see him often. I am happy when we do. So....it's cats!
ReplyDeleteGood to finally catch back up with you! I hope you have a very nice holiday weekend, with many pets for the pups!
ReplyDeleteI know that dogs have always been important in your life, and it is so good that you have family dogs to love and spoil.
ReplyDeleteAll three are such beautiful dogs. Aurora looks friendly enough. Zoey and Lizzie are litter mates and Lizzie is obviously the "runt" of the litter, but she is the dominant one. She's steal every bite of Zoeys food if we aren't watching. She can also get agressive with her sometimes when playing but they sure love each other.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that you and Far Guy have these three dogs to enjoy in your life without the responsibility of your own dog. I know how much you miss Chance. He was such a beautiful dog. He would be very hard to replace.
Blessings and hugs,
Betsy
You know your dogs and can see their character and personality. You control the dog not the dog control you.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you get to spend so much time with your grand dogs. Me too (with mine).
