Book Club in February read Mrs Lincoln's Dressmaker by Jennifer Chiaverini. I give it 8 stars out of 10, it was a very good Historical Fiction book, based on many things that actually happened.
Book Club in March was The Secret Life of Sunflowers by Marta Molnar. I give it a 9 out of a 10 because I really enjoyed the book! It is also Historical Fiction.
I just finished another book that Jen left for me to read, Far Guy is reading it now...fun to have discussion with him about books.
We did the usual Thursday things, I accompanied Far Guy to his infusion. I picked up some fruit and eggs from Aldi and we went out to lupper. Maddie came by and did some household chores and Noah took Sadie for a walk. In the afternoon, I put my feet up in the Movie Room and began to watch Territory on Netflix...so far I am enjoying it(while crocheting)!
Far Side
I’ve read the dressmaker book. Will look for the sunflower one. I have nothing to read.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear FG made it to his infusion. And those books sound really interesting!
ReplyDeleteof course you are crocheting and I'm a bit jealous....I'm going to learn to do this some day. lol. Glad you both have family helping you and walking Sadie. Territory sounds like a good one...
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tips on good books to read. I read a lot, especially in the winter. Spring is coming your way. My crocuses and winter aconite are blooming. I have heard a couple other names for winter aconite but don't recall them. It is a flower found in the Alps of Europe according to what I have been told. I got my start from a neighbor.
ReplyDeleteBoth books sound like ones i would enjoy. I've read most of Chiaverini's books.
ReplyDeleteI have a stack of books to read, mostly crime fiction, and it's been a long time since I've read any historical fiction. Though, I do enjoy those books too. I'll have to keep an eye out for them at the used book store.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your watching and your crocheting.
I keep saying I am not buying any more books until the pile goes down. But you have sent me on a mission. I used to take my 4H senior girls on a field trip about two hours away. Included in the venues was the Kent State University Fashion Museum. They had the most beautiful quilt on display that was made by . . . Mrs Lincoln's Dressmaker. It was so awesome. I am going to search for a photo (I am almost sure they did not permit photography, but had one on their facebook page). I will put it on my blog if I do find it. First I am searching for the book.
ReplyDeleteOur local library has the Molnar book but only as an ebook which I have no idea ( or desire to) figure out.
ReplyDeleteThese sound like some really interesting books!
ReplyDeleteGlad FarGuy is done with another week's infusion.
Hope you have a relaxing weekend and are both feeling better and better. :)
Jennifer Chiaverini is one of my favorites. I haven't read that title yet so I'm off to look for it.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a good day!
