New Barn

The neighbors are getting a new barn.

It is reminiscent of the old barn that stood in the same spot 80 some years.

As you can see a Border Collie is in charge and greets people coming and going.

Here is the blog post about the Old Barn.

  2. If a Border Collie is in charge, you can bet the job will be done correctly.
I certainly understand how you miss Chance every single day. My Scout has also been gone since 2018, but there isn't a day that goes by that I don't say his name. I wish you could let a new dog into your lives. That would be one lucky dog.

  3. I pondered the pointy overhang for awhile and wondering if they were going to put in a mow door later or had just forgot before reading below that they were building it to look like a previous barn.

I really like those old gambrel roofed barns. You don't see many anymore.

  4. Love that they are building it in the traditional style, most new barns are like glorified sheds. The two barns here are old, one built in 1930 and one in 1950. They are still in decent shape, thank goodness.

  5. It's really unusual to put up such a barn now. I think this is fantastic!

  6. Very nice!
What caught my eye is the sky in the background of the second photo. Very pretty!

  8. I'm always glad when people replace the old with something new that looks just like the OLD!

  9. Hopefully, this barn will stand as long as its predecessor.

  10. Now that cost a pretty penny, with the price of lumber being what it is! Good for them! ~Andrea xoxo

  11. It's good to see a "traditional" barn going up, and not just a generic steel shed. Kudos to that neighbor!! Love that border collie photo. We had a wonderful border collie when we lived on the farm. She was worth her weight in gold, and went to another working farm when we became "townies".

  12. I like a barn with a traditional roof like this one has. I didn't know it was called a 'gambrel' roof. Learn something new every day.

  13. I love seeing constructions that involve 2 x 4's. I think the barn is an exciting thing to see being built. They did not do a machine shed but a traditionally designed barn. I hope to see the finished building. I will not go buy boards even though I have the desire to do so after seeing the barn.

  15. So ice the neighbors are building a traditional barn and not the ubiquitous pole barns of most. I wonder if they will paint it barn red? Hope so!
