September Flowers

I mowed again yesterday...some areas that I didn't get the day before.

The small flower garden is still looking good.   The Hummingbirds love the Salvia Victoria Blue.  They have done a good job of covering up my solar lights.

Soon the frost will take care of the flowers.

We are still getting a few tomatoes everyday.  We have been real pleased with the sheep tank as a growing spot!   Lettuce was a bust this year we got a couple of cuttings and then it just was too warm for the lettuce.

I have a number of projects in the works...some Christmas gifts.  I have not ben able to help Far Guy with woodcarving the Christmas ornaments ...my thumb is not good enough yet for carving.  I can do some touch up work and the painting.  Usually this time of year we are done....not so much this year.   I auditioned some ideas for the Christmas card but nothing is written in stone yet.

Goodbye August...hello September.

  2. Great! I was trying to think up projects to keep myself busy this coming winter. I stink at making cards, but may try framing my dried flowers. I know, I am boring.
    I love those flowers.
I'm thinking of planting those around my pine trees next year!

  4. Good thing you start the Christmas gifts and ornaments early enough to allow for things like your thumb issue.

  6. I can't wait to see both the woodcarving and the Christmas card for this year, Connie, and yes, Happy September 1st. When I turned over the calendar page above my computer this morning, I noticed the writing I had done on September 20th.... Connie's 70th birthday!! I think you should celebrate the whole month!! :-D ~Andrea xoxoxo

  7. Hope the thumb continues to improve. The weight of our green tomatoes is breaking the vines. I have several brown paper bags with the greens ripening in my pandemic pantry. We started early with tomatoes and may be wrapping up the season.

  8. Hello Connie! It's still very warm here this morning. The thermometer on the deck reads 76 at 9:00. I'm sure it will cool off eventually and then we'll be wanting warmth again. :-)
I HAVE to get started on Christmas gifts soon. I haven't even begun to think of gifts. This year has just been too crazy but times running out to make things.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  9. Hope that thumb keeps improving so that you can do everything you want. Your flowers really do look sweet. My one geranium seems to be thriving again now that our temps haven't been in the triple digits for a couple of weeks.

  10. Love hummingbirds! You are blessed to have them around. :)
I'm glad Leah and I made up extra sets of cards last year as my thumb and knuckle are still bad. Typing and writing letters is done a little at a time so thankful I don't have to mass produce Christmas cards this year...but I also don't want to get behind. ;) Your cards are always lovely.

  11. Happy September! I'm not looking forward to the frost but not foolish to think it won't be happening sometime in the next few weeks. We had thunderstorms with hail last night and this morning.

  13. You have a nice pretty garden. You have been busy. Good luck with all the little things that the Christmas season brings.

  14. Your flower garden looks great! My perennial bed is an absolute mess, overrun by weeds. I used the heat we experienced as an excuse not to go out there. The weeds used the heat as an excuse to grow really fast. :(

  15. HELLO FALL! Happy First Day of September!

  16. I am not ready for September but here it is. Things do look like they are shutting down. Our grass is thin because of the drought and not because of the time of the year. Sore hands seem to always get in the way when you try to do anything.

  17. Our lettuce was a bust this year too. It just went right into bolting. The hole raised bed garden was poor this year. But the tomatoes are ding well in their heat trap by the garage.

  18. Your flowers are beautiful! I love the Salvia. You two were brilliant to have the raised tank for growing tomatoes. I love something that can take the backache out of gardening!

  19. Happy September!! Lovely flowers. Nice that the deer haven't found them. Yet.

  22. Your flowers still look robust and great! Glad you're still getting a few juicy tomatoes too. Sorry to hear your thumb is still hurting....hopefully it will be feeling much better soon.

  24. Your flower garden is so pretty. I grew very few flowers this summer; none in the garden except a couple of sunflowers. Glad your tomatoes did good. We are getting a few not so pretty ones.

  25. We have mowed a couple times now and most of the grass is pretty darn green! I am sure the weeds are still growing in the gardens.

  26. We didn't have to mow all summer.
Blue salvia is one of my new favourite flowers. The hummers and butterflies love it. and It fills the pots so well.
