My Nieces children raise chickens, I get eggs from them.  Needless to say the eggs are awesome..the kids are awesome too!

The girls took their brown egg laying hens to the fair.  The little boy is not in 4 H yet.
Olivia was very eggcited...her chickens are Grand Champions.

  7. Congratulations to Olivia for her Grand Champions and Congratulations to Hailey for getting a blue ribbon in showmanship. She must know a lot about chickens and how to handle them. Congratulations to all for being in 4-H. Long ago I was a 4-H leader for my daughter's sewing group. Later she was in a rabbit group. And when her children were young, she was an assistant advisor for their dog group. The ribbons are wonderful but I think what the
children learn during the year is most important, useful for the rest of their lives.

  17. WOW! Congratulations to Olivia and Hailey. That is awesome. 4-H is so good for kids. I think a lot is learned there. I love going to the fair and seeing the kids and their animals. I spend more time in those barns than in the needlework area and that's saying something!
I know they are so proud of their hens too. Tell them congrats from all of us.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  21. That takes me back to my childhood days on the farm and county fairs. We raised chickens, but for meat and eggs, not as 4H projects. I did with a blue ribbon for my cookies in 4H though.

  22. Congratulations to the children, a job well done. rewards like this encourages children to do more projects, and it teaches them many lessons in life. Fresh eggs are the best, I do enjoy mine.
    Thanks for sharing,

  23. That is so good for children to do and you also get fresh eggs. Our oldest grandson suddenly became interested in how things grow. He is taking care of a bean that has grown up outside where he planted it. We all had to go out and see his bean and watch him water it with all seriousness.
